Hosea 4:1-7

NRS 1 Hear the word of the Lord, O people of Israel; for the Lord has an indictment against the inhabitants of the land. There is no faithfulness or loyalty, and no knowledge of God in the land. NIV 1 Hear the word of the LORD, you Israelites, because the LORD has a charge to bring against you who live in the land: "There is no faithfulness, no love, no acknowledgment of God in the land. NRS 2 Swearing, lying, and murder, and stealing and adultery break out; bloodshed follows bloodshed. NIV 2 There is only cursing, lying and murder, stealing and adultery; they break all bounds, and bloodshed follows bloodshed. NRS 3 Therefore the land mourns, and all who live in it languish; together with the wild animals and the birds of the air, even the fish of the sea are perishing. NIV 3 Because of this the land mourns, and all who live in it waste away; the beasts of the field and the birds of the air and the fish of the sea are dying. NRS 4 Yet let no one contend, and let none accuse, for with you is my contention, O priest. NIV 4 "But let no man bring a charge, let no man accuse another, for your people are like those who bring charges against a priest. NRS 5 You shall stumble by day; the prophet also shall stumble with you by night, and I will destroy your mother. NIV 5 You stumble day and night, and the prophets stumble with you. So I will destroy your mother-- NRS 6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; because you have rejected knowledge, I reject you from being a priest to me. And since you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children. NIV 6 my people are destroyed from lack of knowledge. "Because you have rejected knowledge, I also reject you as my priests; because you have ignored the law of your God, I also will ignore your children. NRS 7 The more they increased, the more they sinned against me; they changed their glory into shame. NIV 7 The more the priests increased, the more they sinned against me; they exchanged their Glory for something disgraceful.
