Isaiah 43

NLT 1 But now, O Jacob, listen to the who created you. O Israel, the one who formed you says, “Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine. NIV 1 But now, this is what the LORD says-- he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: "Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. NLT 2 When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. NIV 2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. NLT 3 For I am the , your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior. I gave Egypt as a ransom for your freedom; I gave Ethiopia and Seba in your place. NIV 3 For I am the LORD, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior; I give Egypt for your ransom, Cush and Seba in your stead. NLT 4 Others were given in exchange for you. I traded their lives for yours because you are precious to me. You are honored, and I love you. Let them bring in their witnesses to prove they were right, so that others may hear and say, "It is true." NLT 10 “But you are my witnesses, O Israel!” says the . “You are my servant. You have been chosen to know me, believe in me, and understand that I alone am God. There is no other God— there never has been, and there never will be. NIV 10 "You are my witnesses," declares the LORD, "and my servant whom I have chosen, so that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he. Before me no god was formed, nor will there be one after me. NLT 11 I, yes I, am the , and there is no other Savior. NIV 11 I, even I, am the LORD, and apart from me there is no savior. I drew them beneath the waves, and they drowned, their lives snuffed out like a smoldering candlewick. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland. NIV 19 See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland. NLT 20 The wild animals in the fields will thank me, the jackals and owls, too, for giving them water in the desert. Yes, I will make rivers in the dry wasteland so my chosen people can be refreshed. NIV 20 The wild animals honor me, the jackals and the owls, because I provide water in the desert and streams in the wasteland, to give drink to my people, my chosen, NLT 21 I have made Israel for myself, and they will someday honor me before the whole world. NIV 21 the people I formed for myself that they may proclaim my praise. NLT 22 “But, dear family of Jacob, you refuse to ask for my help. You have grown tired of me, O Israel! NIV 22 "Yet you have not called upon me, O Jacob, you have not wearied yourselves for me, O Israel. NLT 23 You have not brought me sheep or goats for burnt offerings. You have not honored me with sacrifices, though I have not burdened and wearied you with requests for grain offerings and frankincense. NIV 23 You have not brought me sheep for burnt offerings, nor honored me with your sacrifices. I have not burdened you with grain offerings nor wearied you with demands for incense. NLT 24 You have not brought me fragrant calamus or pleased me with the fat from sacrifices. Instead, you have burdened me with your sins and wearied me with your faults. NIV 24 You have not bought any fragrant calamus for me, or lavished on me the fat of your sacrifices. But you have burdened me with your sins and wearied me with your offenses. NLT 25 “I—yes, I alone—will blot out your sins for my own sake and will never think of them again. NIV 25 "I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more. NLT 26 Let us review the situation together, and you can present your case to prove your innocence. NIV 26 Review the past for me, let us argue the matter together; state the case for your innocence. NLT 27 From the very beginning, your first ancestor sinned against me; all your leaders broke my laws. NIV 27 Your first father sinned; your spokesmen rebelled against me. NLT 28 That is why I have disgraced your priests; I have decreed complete destruction for Jacob and shame for Israel. NIV 28 So I will disgrace the dignitaries of your temple, and I will consign Jacob to destruction and Israel to scorn.
