Isaiah 52

NLT 1 Wake up, wake up, O Zion! Clothe yourself with strength. Put on your beautiful clothes, O holy city of Jerusalem, for unclean and godless people will enter your gates no longer. NIV 1 Awake, awake, O Zion, clothe yourself with strength. Put on your garments of splendor, O Jerusalem, the holy city. The uncircumcised and defiled will not enter you again. NLT 2 Rise from the dust, O Jerusalem. Sit in a place of honor. Remove the chains of slavery from your neck, O captive daughter of Zion. NIV 2 Shake off your dust; rise up, sit enthroned, O Jerusalem. Free yourself from the chains on your neck, O captive Daughter of Zion. NLT 3 For this is what the says: “When I sold you into exile, I received no payment. Now I can redeem you without having to pay for you.” NIV 3 For this is what the LORD says: "You were sold for nothing, and without money you will be redeemed." NLT 4 This is what the Sovereign says: “Long ago my people chose to live in Egypt. Now they are oppressed by Assyria. Those who rule them shout in exultation. My name is blasphemed all day long. NIV 5 "And now what do I have here?" declares the LORD. "For my people have been taken away for nothing, and those who rule them mock, " declares the LORD. "And all day long my name is constantly blasphemed. NLT 6 But I will reveal my name to my people, and they will come to know its power. Then at last they will recognize that I am the one who speaks to them.” NIV 6 Therefore my people will know my name; therefore in that day they will know that it is I who foretold it. Yes, it is I." NLT 7 How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of the messenger who brings good news, the good news of peace and salvation, the news that the God of Israel reigns! NIV 7 How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, "Your God reigns!" NLT 8 The watchmen shout and sing with joy, for before their very eyes they see the returning to Jerusalem. NIV 8 Listen! Your watchmen lift up their voices; together they shout for joy. When the LORD returns to Zion, they will see it with their own eyes. NLT 9 Let the ruins of Jerusalem break into joyful song, for the has comforted his people. He has redeemed Jerusalem. NIV 9 Burst into songs of joy together, you ruins of Jerusalem, for the LORD has comforted his people, he has redeemed Jerusalem. NLT 10 The has demonstrated his holy power before the eyes of all the nations. All the ends of the earth will see the victory of our God. NIV 10 The LORD will lay bare his holy arm in the sight of all the nations, and all the ends of the earth will see the salvation of our God. NLT 11 Get out! Get out and leave your captivity, where everything you touch is unclean. Get out of there and purify yourselves, you who carry home the sacred objects of the . NIV 11 Depart, depart, go out from there! Touch no unclean thing! Come out from it and be pure, you who carry the vessels of the LORD. NLT 12 You will not leave in a hurry, running for your lives. For the will go ahead of you; yes, the God of Israel will protect you from behind. NIV 12 But you will not leave in haste or go in flight; for the LORD will go before you, the God of Israel will be your rear guard. NLT 13 See, my servant will prosper; he will be highly exalted. NIV 13 See, my servant will act wisely; he will be raised and lifted up and highly exalted. NLT 14 But many were amazed when they saw him. His face was so disfigured he seemed hardly human, and from his appearance, one would scarcely know he was a man. NIV 14 Just as there were many who were appalled at him-- his appearance was so disfigured beyond that of any man and his form marred beyond human likeness-- NLT 15 And he will startle many nations. Kings will stand speechless in his presence. For they will see what they had not been told; they will understand what they had not heard about. NIV 15 so will he sprinkle many nations, and kings will shut their mouths because of him. For what they were not told, they will see, and what they have not heard, they will understand.
