Isaiah 6:1-8

CEB 1 In the year of King Uzziah's death, I saw the Lord sitting on a high and exalted throne, the edges of his robe filling the temple. NRS 1 In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lofty; and the hem of his robe filled the temple. CEB 2 Winged creatures were stationed around him. Each had six wings: with two they veiled their faces, with two their feet, and with two they flew about. NRS 2 Seraphs were in attendance above him; each had six wings: with two they covered their faces, and with two they covered their feet, and with two they flew. CEB 3 They shouted to each other, saying: "Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of heavenly forces! All the earth is filled with God's glory!" NRS 3 And one called to another and said: "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory." CEB 4 The doorframe shook at the sound of their shouting, and the house was filled with smoke. NRS 4 The pivots on the thresholds shook at the voices of those who called, and the house filled with smoke. CEB 5 I said, "Mourn for me; I'm ruined! I'm a man with unclean lips, and I live among a people with unclean lips. Yet I've seen the king, the LORD of heavenly forces!" NRS 5 And I said: "Woe is me! I am lost, for I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips; yet my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts!" CEB 6 Then one of the winged creatures flew to me, holding a glowing coal that he had taken from the altar with tongs. NRS 6 Then one of the seraphs flew to me, holding a live coal that had been taken from the altar with a pair of tongs. CEB 7 He touched my mouth and said, "See, this has touched your lips. Your guilt has departed, and your sin is removed." NRS 7 The seraph touched my mouth with it and said: "Now that this has touched your lips, your guilt has departed and your sin is blotted out." CEB 8 Then I heard the Lord's voice saying, "Whom should I send, and who will go for us?" I said, "I'm here; send me." NRS 8 Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?" And I said, "Here am I; send me!"
