1 Aconteció en los días de Acaz hijo de Jotam, hijo de Uzías, rey de Judá, que Rezín rey de Siria, y Peca hijo de Remalías, rey de Israel, subieron a Jerusalén para combatirla; mas no la pudieron tomar

2 Y vino la nueva a la casa de David, diciendo: Siria se ha confederado con Efraín. Y se le estremeció el corazón, y el corazón de su pueblo, como se estremecen los árboles del monte a causa del viento

3 Entonces dijo el SEÑOR a Isaías: Sal ahora al encuentro de Acaz, tú, y Sear-jasub tu hijo, al extremo del conducto de la pesquera de arriba, en el camino de la heredad del Lavador

4 y dile: Guarda, y repósate; no temas, ni se enternezca tu corazón a causa de estos dos cabos de tizón que humean, por el furor de la ira de Rezín y del sirio, y del hijo de Remalías

5 Por haber acordado maligno consejo contra ti el sirio, con Efraín y con el hijo de Remalías, diciendo

6 Vamos contra Judá, y la despertaremos, y la repartiremos entre nosotros, y pondremos en medio de ella por rey al hijo de Tabeel

7 El Señor DIOS dice así: No permanecerá, y no será

8 Porque la cabeza de Siria será Damasco, y la cabeza de Damasco, Rezín; y dentro de sesenta y cinco años Efraín será quebrantado <em>y nunca mas será</em> pueblo

9 Entretanto la cabeza de Efraín <em>será</em> Samaria, y la cabeza de Samaria el hijo de Remalías. Si vosotros no creyereis, de cierto no permaneceréis

10 Y habló más el SEÑOR a Acaz, diciendo

11 Pide para ti señal del SEÑOR tu Dios, demandándola en lo profundo, o arriba en lo alto

12 Y respondió Acaz: No pediré, y no tentaré al SEÑOR

13 Dijo <em>entonces Isaías</em>: Oíd ahora, casa de David. ¿No os basta ser molestos a los hombres, sino que también lo seáis a mi Dios

14 Por tanto, el mismo Señor os dará señal: He aquí que la virgen concebirá, y dará a luz un hijo, y llamará su nombre Emmanuel

15 Comerá manteca y miel, hasta que sepa desechar lo malo y escoger lo bueno

16 Porque antes que el niño sepa desechar lo malo y escoger lo bueno, la tierra que tú aborreces será dejada de sus dos reyes

17 El SEÑOR hará venir sobre ti, y sobre tu pueblo, y sobre la casa de tu padre, días cuales nunca vinieron desde el día que Efraín se apartó de Judá, <em>es a saber</em>, al rey de Asiria

18 Y acontecerá que aquel día silbará el SEÑOR a la mosca que <em>está</em> en el fin de los ríos de Egipto, y a la abeja que <em>está</em> en la tierra de Asiria

19 Y vendrán, y se asentarán todos en los valles desiertos, y en las cavernas de las piedras, y en todos los zarzales, y en todas las matas

20 En aquel día raerá el Señor con navaja alquilada, con <em>los que habitan</em> del otro lado del río, <em>es a saber</em>, con el rey de Asiria, cabeza y pelos de los pies; y aun la barba también quitará

21 Y acontecerá en aquel tiempo, que críe un hombre una vaca y dos ovejas

22 y será que a causa de la abundancia de leche que darán, comerá manteca; ciertamente manteca y miel comerá el que quedare en medio de la tierra

23 Acontecerá también en aquel tiempo, que el lugar donde había mil vides que valían mil <em>siclos</em> de plata, será para los espinos y para los cardos

24 Con saetas y arco irán allá; porque toda la tierra será espinos y cardos

25 Mas a todos los montes que se cavaban con azada, no llegará allá el temor de los espinos y de los cardos; mas serán para pasto de bueyes, y para ser hollados de los ganados

New International Version NIV

1 When Ahaz son of Jotham, the son of Uzziah, was king of Judah, King Rezin of Aram and Pekah son of Remaliah king of Israel marched up to fight against Jerusalem, but they could not overpower it.

2 Now the house of David was told, “Aram has allied itself with Ephraim”; so the hearts of Ahaz and his people were shaken, as the trees of the forest are shaken by the wind.

3 Then the LORD said to Isaiah, “Go out, you and your son Shear-Jashub, to meet Ahaz at the end of the aqueduct of the Upper Pool, on the road to the Launderer’s Field.

4 Say to him, ‘Be careful, keep calm and don’t be afraid. Do not lose heart because of these two smoldering stubs of firewood—because of the fierce anger of Rezin and Aram and of the son of Remaliah.

5 Aram, Ephraim and Remaliah’s son have plotted your ruin, saying,

6 “Let us invade Judah; let us tear it apart and divide it among ourselves, and make the son of Tabeel king over it.”

7 Yet this is what the Sovereign LORD says: “ ‘It will not take place, it will not happen,

8 for the head of Aram is Damascus, and the head of Damascus is only Rezin. Within sixty-five years Ephraim will be too shattered to be a people.

9 The head of Ephraim is Samaria, and the head of Samaria is only Remaliah’s son. If you do not stand firm in your faith, you will not stand at all.’ ”

10 Again the LORD spoke to Ahaz,

11 “Ask the LORD your God for a sign, whether in the deepest depths or in the highest heights.”

12 But Ahaz said, “I will not ask; I will not put the LORD to the test.”

13 Then Isaiah said, “Hear now, you house of David! Is it not enough to try the patience of humans? Will you try the patience of my God also?

14 Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.

15 He will be eating curds and honey when he knows enough to reject the wrong and choose the right,

16 for before the boy knows enough to reject the wrong and choose the right, the land of the two kings you dread will be laid waste.

17 The LORD will bring on you and on your people and on the house of your father a time unlike any since Ephraim broke away from Judah—he will bring the king of Assyria.”

18 In that day the LORD will whistle for flies from the Nile delta in Egypt and for bees from the land of Assyria.

19 They will all come and settle in the steep ravines and in the crevices in the rocks, on all the thornbushes and at all the water holes.

20 In that day the Lord will use a razor hired from beyond the Euphrates River—the king of Assyria—to shave your heads and private parts, and to cut off your beards also.

21 In that day, a person will keep alive a young cow and two goats.

22 And because of the abundance of the milk they give, there will be curds to eat. All who remain in the land will eat curds and honey.

23 In that day, in every place where there were a thousand vines worth a thousand silver shekels, there will be only briers and thorns.

24 Hunters will go there with bow and arrow, for the land will be covered with briers and thorns.

25 As for all the hills once cultivated by the hoe, you will no longer go there for fear of the briers and thorns; they will become places where cattle are turned loose and where sheep run.
