James 5:13-18

RSV 13 Is any one among you suffering? Let him pray. Is any cheerful? Let him sing praise. NIV 13 Is any one of you in trouble? He should pray. Is anyone happy? Let him sing songs of praise. RSV 14 Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; NIV 14 Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. RSV 15 and the prayer of faith will save the sick man, and the Lord will raise him up; and if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. NIV 15 And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven. RSV 16 Therefore confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man has great power in its effects. NIV 16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. RSV 17 Eli'jah was a man of like nature with ourselves and he prayed fervently that it might not rain, and for three years and six months it did not rain on the earth. NIV 17 Elijah was a man just like us. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. RSV 18 Then he prayed again and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth its fruit. NIV 18 Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops.
