James 5:7-11

NRS 7 Be patient, therefore, beloved, until the coming of the Lord. The farmer waits for the precious crop from the earth, being patient with it until it receives the early and the late rains. NIV 7 Be patient, then, brothers, until the Lord's coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop and how patient he is for the autumn and spring rains. NRS 8 You also must be patient. Strengthen your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is near. NIV 8 You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord's coming is near. NRS 9 Beloved, do not grumble against one another, so that you may not be judged. See, the Judge is standing at the doors! NIV 9 Don't grumble against each other, brothers, or you will be judged. The Judge is standing at the door! NRS 10 As an example of suffering and patience, beloved, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. NIV 10 Brothers, as an example of patience in the face of suffering, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. NRS 11 Indeed we call blessed those who showed endurance. You have heard of the endurance of Job, and you have seen the purpose of the Lord, how the Lord is compassionate and merciful. NIV 11 As you know, we consider blessed those who have persevered. You have heard of Job's perseverance and have seen what the Lord finally brought about. The Lord is full of compassion and mercy.
