Jeremiah 15:10-21

NRS 10 Woe is me, my mother, that you ever bore me, a man of strife and contention to the whole land! I have not lent, nor have I borrowed, yet all of them curse me. NIV 10 Alas, my mother, that you gave me birth, a man with whom the whole land strives and contends! I have neither lent nor borrowed, yet everyone curses me. NRS 11 The Lord said: Surely I have intervened in your life for good, surely I have imposed enemies on you in a time of trouble and in a time of distress. NIV 11 The LORD said, "Surely I will deliver you for a good purpose; surely I will make your enemies plead with you in times of disaster and times of distress. NRS 12 Can iron and bronze break iron from the north? NIV 12 "Can a man break iron-- iron from the north--or bronze? NRS 13 Your wealth and your treasures I will give as plunder, without price, for all your sins, throughout all your territory. NIV 13 Your wealth and your treasures I will give as plunder, without charge, because of all your sins throughout your country. NRS 14 I will make you serve your enemies in a land that you do not know, for in my anger a fire is kindled that shall burn forever. NIV 14 I will enslave you to your enemies in a land you do not know, for my anger will kindle a fire that will burn against you." NRS 15 O Lord, you know; remember me and visit me, and bring down retribution for me on my persecutors. In your forbearance do not take me away; know that on your account I suffer insult. NIV 15 You understand, O LORD; remember me and care for me. Avenge me on my persecutors. You are long-suffering--do not take me away; think of how I suffer reproach for your sake. NRS 16 Your words were found, and I ate them, and your words became to me a joy and the delight of my heart; for I am called by your name, O Lord, God of hosts. NIV 16 When your words came, I ate them; they were my joy and my heart's delight, for I bear your name, O LORD God Almighty. NRS 17 I did not sit in the company of merrymakers, nor did I rejoice; under the weight of your hand I sat alone, for you had filled me with indignation. NIV 17 I never sat in the company of revelers, never made merry with them; I sat alone because your hand was on me and you had filled me with indignation. NRS 18 Why is my pain unceasing, my wound incurable, refusing to be healed? Truly, you are to me like a deceitful brook, like waters that fail. NIV 18 Why is my pain unending and my wound grievous and incurable? Will you be to me like a deceptive brook, like a spring that fails? NRS 19 Therefore thus says the Lord: If you turn back, I will take you back, and you shall stand before me. If you utter what is precious, and not what is worthless, you shall serve as my mouth. It is they who will turn to you, not you who will turn to them. NIV 19 Therefore this is what the LORD says: "If you repent, I will restore you that you may serve me; if you utter worthy, not worthless, words, you will be my spokesman. Let this people turn to you, but you must not turn to them. NRS 20 And I will make you to this people a fortified wall of bronze; they will fight against you, but they shall not prevail over you, for I am with you to save you and deliver you, says the Lord. NIV 20 I will make you a wall to this people, a fortified wall of bronze; they will fight against you but will not overcome you, for I am with you to rescue and save you," declares the LORD. NRS 21 I will deliver you out of the hand of the wicked, and redeem you from the grasp of the ruthless. NIV 21 "I will save you from the hands of the wicked and redeem you from the grasp of the cruel."
