Jeremiah 48:1-6

CEB 1 Concerning Moab: The LORD of heavenly forces, the God of Israel, proclaims: How awful for Nebo; it lies in ruins. Kirathaim is captured and shamed; the fortress is disgraced, reduced to rubble. NIV 1 Concerning Moab: This is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says: "Woe to Nebo, for it will be ruined. Kiriathaim will be disgraced and captured; the stronghold will be disgraced and shattered. CEB 2 No one sings Moab's praise any longer! In Heshbon they are hatching a plot against her: "Come, let's bring down the nation!" You too, madmen, will be silenced; the sword will pursue you. NIV 2 Moab will be praised no more; in Heshbon men will plot her downfall: 'Come, let us put an end to that nation.' You too, O Madmen, will be silenced; the sword will pursue you. CEB 3 Listen to the cries for help from Horonaim: "Destruction and massive devastation!" NIV 3 Listen to the cries from Horonaim, cries of great havoc and destruction. CEB 4 Moab is shattered; its young cry for help. NIV 4 Moab will be broken; her little ones will cry out. CEB 5 On the way up to Luhith, there is uncontrollable weeping. On the way down to Horonaim, they hear sobs of anguish. NIV 5 They go up the way to Luhith, weeping bitterly as they go; on the road down to Horonaim anguished cries over the destruction are heard. CEB 6 Run for your lives! Be like Aroer in the desert. NIV 6 Flee! Run for your lives; become like a bush in the desert.
