2 Esto me dijo el Señor<br />: «Hazte un yugo y átatelo al cuello con correas de cuero.

3 Luego envía un mensaje a los reyes de Edom, Moab, Amón, Tiro y Sidón a través de sus embajadores que han llegado a visitar al rey Sedequías en Jerusalén.

4 Dales este mensaje para sus amos: “Esto dice el Señor<br /> de los Ejércitos Celestiales, Dios de Israel:

5 ‘Yo hice la tierra, la gente y cada animal con mi gran fuerza y brazo poderoso. Estas cosas me pertenecen y puedo dárselas a quien yo quiera.

6 Ahora entregaré estos países al rey Nabucodonosor de Babilonia, quien es mi siervo. He puesto todo bajo su control, aun los animales salvajes.

7 Todas las naciones le servirán a él, a su hijo y a su nieto hasta que se acabe el tiempo de ellos. Entonces muchas naciones y grandes reyes conquistarán y dominarán a Babilonia.

8 Así que ustedes deben someterse al rey de Babilonia y servirle; ¡pongan su cuello bajo el yugo de Babilonia! Castigaré a toda nación que rehúse ser su esclava, dice el Señor<br />. Enviaré guerra, hambre y enfermedad sobre esa nación hasta que Babilonia la conquiste.

9 »’No les hagan caso a sus falsos profetas, adivinos, intérpretes de sueños, los médiums y hechiceros que dicen: “El rey de Babilonia no los conquistará”.

10 Todos son mentirosos y sus mentiras solo servirán para que ustedes sean expulsados de su propia tierra. Yo los expulsaré y los enviaré a morir lejos;

11 pero al pueblo de toda nación que se someta al rey de Babilonia se le permitirá permanecer en su propio país para cultivar la tierra como siempre. ¡Yo, el Señor<br />, he hablado!’”».

12 Después repetí el mismo mensaje al rey Sedequías de Judá: «Si deseas vivir, sométete al yugo del rey de Babilonia y a su pueblo.

13 ¿Por qué insistes en morir, tú y tu pueblo? ¿Por qué habrán de escoger la guerra, el hambre y la enfermedad que Dios traerá contra toda nación que se niegue a someterse al rey de Babilonia?

14 No les hagan caso a los falsos profetas que les siguen diciendo: “El rey de Babilonia no los conquistará”. Son mentirosos.

15 Esto dice el Señor<br />: “¡Yo no envié a estos profetas! Les dicen mentiras en mi nombre, así que yo los expulsaré de esta tierra. Todos ustedes morirán, junto con todos estos profetas”».

16 Entonces me dirigí a los sacerdotes y al pueblo y les dije: «Esto dice el Señor<br />: “No escuchen a sus profetas que les aseguran que los artículos de oro que fueron sacados de mi templo pronto serán devueltos de Babilonia. ¡Es pura mentira!

17 No los escuchen. Ríndanse al rey de Babilonia y vivirán. ¿Por qué ha de ser destruida toda esta ciudad?

18 Si realmente son profetas y proclaman los mensajes del Señor<br />, que oren al Señor<br /> de los Ejércitos Celestiales. ¡Que supliquen que los objetos que aún quedan en el templo del Señor<br />, en el palacio real y en los palacios de Jerusalén no sean llevados a Babilonia!”.

19 »Pues el Señor<br /> de los Ejércitos Celestiales ha hablado acerca de las columnas que están al frente del templo, del enorme tazón de bronce llamado «el Mar», de las carretas para llevar agua y de los demás objetos ceremoniales.

20 El rey Nabucodonosor de Babilonia los dejó aquí cuando desterró a Babilonia a Joaquín,<br /> hijo de Joacim, rey de Judá, junto con los demás nobles de Judá y de Jerusalén.

21 Sí, esto dice el Señor<br /> de los Ejércitos Celestiales, Dios de Israel, acerca de los objetos preciosos que todavía permanecen en el templo y en el palacio del rey de Judá:

1 Early in the reign of Zedekiah son of Josiah king of Judah, this word came to Jeremiah from the LORD:

2 This is what the LORD said to me: “Make a yoke out of straps and crossbars and put it on your neck.

3 Then send word to the kings of Edom, Moab, Ammon, Tyre and Sidon through the envoys who have come to Jerusalem to Zedekiah king of Judah.

4 Give them a message for their masters and say, ‘This is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says: “Tell this to your masters:

5 With my great power and outstretched arm I made the earth and its people and the animals that are on it, and I give it to anyone I please.

6 Now I will give all your countries into the hands of my servant Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon; I will make even the wild animals subject to him.

7 All nations will serve him and his son and his grandson until the time for his land comes; then many nations and great kings will subjugate him.

8 “ ‘ “If, however, any nation or kingdom will not serve Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon or bow its neck under his yoke, I will punish that nation with the sword, famine and plague, declares the LORD, until I destroy it by his hand.

9 So do not listen to your prophets, your diviners, your interpreters of dreams, your mediums or your sorcerers who tell you, ‘You will not serve the king of Babylon.’

10 They prophesy lies to you that will only serve to remove you far from your lands; I will banish you and you will perish.

11 But if any nation will bow its neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon and serve him, I will let that nation remain in its own land to till it and to live there, declares the LORD.” ’ ”

12 I gave the same message to Zedekiah king of Judah. I said, “Bow your neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon; serve him and his people, and you will live.

13 Why will you and your people die by the sword, famine and plague with which the LORD has threatened any nation that will not serve the king of Babylon?

14 Do not listen to the words of the prophets who say to you, ‘You will not serve the king of Babylon,’ for they are prophesying lies to you.

15 ‘I have not sent them,’ declares the LORD. ‘They are prophesying lies in my name. Therefore, I will banish you and you will perish, both you and the prophets who prophesy to you.’ ”

16 Then I said to the priests and all these people, “This is what the LORD says: Do not listen to the prophets who say, ‘Very soon now the articles from the LORD’s house will be brought back from Babylon.’ They are prophesying lies to you.

17 Do not listen to them. Serve the king of Babylon, and you will live. Why should this city become a ruin?

18 If they are prophets and have the word of the LORD, let them plead with the LORD Almighty that the articles remaining in the house of the LORD and in the palace of the king of Judah and in Jerusalem not be taken to Babylon.

19 For this is what the LORD Almighty says about the pillars, the bronze Sea, the movable stands and the other articles that are left in this city,

20 which Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon did not take away when he carried Jehoiachin son of Jehoiakim king of Judah into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon, along with all the nobles of Judah and Jerusalem—

21 yes, this is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says about the things that are left in the house of the LORD and in the palace of the king of Judah and in Jerusalem:

22 ‘They will be taken to Babylon and there they will remain until the day I come for them,’ declares the LORD. ‘Then I will bring them back and restore them to this place.’ ”
