John 12:12-19

RSV 12 The next day a great crowd who had come to the feast heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem. NIV 12 The next day the great crowd that had come for the Feast heard that Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem. RSV 13 So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet him, crying, "Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel!" NIV 13 They took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting, "Hosanna! " "Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!" "Blessed is the King of Israel!" RSV 14 And Jesus found a young ass and sat upon it; as it is written, NIV 14 Jesus found a young donkey and sat upon it, as it is written, RSV 15 "Fear not, daughter of Zion; behold, your king is coming, sitting on an ass's colt!" NIV 15 "Do not be afraid, O Daughter of Zion; see, your king is coming, seated on a donkey's colt." RSV 16 His disciples did not understand this at first; but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that this had been written of him and had been done to him. NIV 16 At first his disciples did not understand all this. Only after Jesus was glorified did they realize that these things had been written about him and that they had done these things to him. RSV 17 The crowd that had been with him when he called Laz'arus out of the tomb and raised him from the dead bore witness. NIV 17 Now the crowd that was with him when he called Lazarus from the tomb and raised him from the dead continued to spread the word. RSV 18 The reason why the crowd went to meet him was that they heard he had done this sign. NIV 18 Many people, because they had heard that he had given this miraculous sign, went out to meet him. RSV 19 The Pharisees then said to one another, "You see that you can do nothing; look, the world has gone after him." NIV 19 So the Pharisees said to one another, "See, this is getting us nowhere. Look how the whole world has gone after him!"
