John 15

RHE 1 I am the true vine: and my Father is the husbandman. NIV 1 "I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. RHE 2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit, he will take away: and every one that beareth fruit, he will purge it, that it may bring forth more fruit. NIV 2 He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. RHE 3 Now you are clean, by reason of the word which I have spoken to you. NIV 3 You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. RHE 4 Abide in me: and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abide in the vine, so neither can you, unless you abide in me. NIV 4 Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. RHE 5 I am the vine: you the branches. He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same beareth much fruit: for without me you can do nothing. NIV 5 "I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. RHE 6 If any one abide not in me, he shall be cast forth as a branch and shall wither: and they shall gather him up and cast him into the fire: and he burneth. NIV 6 If anyone does not remain in me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. RHE 7 If you abide in me and my words abide in you, you shall ask whatever you will: and it shall be done unto you. NIV 7 If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you. RHE 8 In this is my Father glorified: that you bring forth very much fruit and become my disciples. NIV 8 This is to my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples. RHE 9 As the Father hath loved me, I also have loved you. Abide in my love. NIV 9 "As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. RHE 10 If you keep my commandments, you shall abide in my love: as I also have kept my Father’s commandments and do abide in his love. NIV 10 If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father's commands and remain in his love. RHE 11 These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and your joy may be filled. NIV 11 I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. RHE 12 This is my commandment, that you love one another, as I have loved you. NIV 12 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. RHE 13 Greater love than this no man hath, that a man lay down his life for his friends. NIV 13 Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. RHE 14 You are my friends, if you do the things that I command you. NIV 14 You are my friends if you do what I command. RHE 15 I will not now call you servants: for the servant knoweth not what his lord doth. But I have called you friends. because all things, whatsoever I have heard of my Father, I have made known to you. NIV 15 I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master's business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. RHE 16 You have not chosen me: but I have chosen you; and have appointed you, that you should go and should bring forth fruit; and your fruit should remain: that whatsoever you shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. NIV 16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit--fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. RHE 17 These things I command you, that you love one another. NIV 17 This is my command: Love each other. RHE 18 If the world hate you, know ye that it hath hated me before you. NIV 18 "If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. RHE 19 If you had been of the world, the world would love its own: but because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. NIV 19 If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. RHE 20 Remember my word that I said to you: The servant is not greater than his master. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they have kept my word, they will keep yours also. NIV 20 Remember the words I spoke to you: 'No servant is greater than his master.' If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also. RHE 21 But all these things they will do to you for my name’s sake: because they know not him that sent me. NIV 21 They will treat you this way because of my name, for they do not know the One who sent me. RHE 22 If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have sin: but now they have no excuse for their sin. NIV 22 If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of sin. Now, however, they have no excuse for their sin. RHE 23 He that hateth me hateth my Father also. NIV 23 He who hates me hates my Father as well. RHE 24 If I had not done among them the works that no other man hath done, they would not have sin: but now they have both seen and hated both me and my Father. NIV 24 If I had not done among them what no one else did, they would not be guilty of sin. But now they have seen these miracles, and yet they have hated both me and my Father. RHE 25 But that the word may be fulfilled which is written in their law: they hated me without cause. NIV 25 But this is to fulfill what is written in their Law: 'They hated me without reason.' RHE 26 But when the Paraclete cometh, whom I will send you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceedeth from the Father, he shall give testimony of me. NIV 26 "When the Counselor comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father, he will testify about me. RHE 27 And you shall give testimony, because you are with me from the beginning. NIV 27 And you also must testify, for you have been with me from the beginning.
