John 15

YLT 1 `I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman; NIV 1 "I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. YLT 2 every branch in me not bearing fruit, He doth take it away, and every one bearing fruit, He doth cleanse by pruning it, that it may bear more fruit; NIV 2 He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. YLT 3 already ye are clean, because of the word that I have spoken to you; NIV 3 You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. YLT 4 remain in me, and I in you, as the branch is not able to bear fruit of itself, if it may not remain in the vine, so neither ye, if ye may not remain in me. NIV 4 Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. YLT 5 `I am the vine, ye the branches; he who is remaining in me, and I in him, this one doth bear much fruit, because apart from me ye are not able to do anything; NIV 5 "I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. YLT 6 if any one may not remain in me, he was cast forth without as the branch, and was withered, and they gather them, and cast to fire, and they are burned; NIV 6 If anyone does not remain in me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. YLT 7 if ye may remain in me, and my sayings in you may remain, whatever ye may wish ye shall ask, and it shall be done to you. NIV 7 If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you. YLT 8 `In this was my Father glorified, that ye may bear much fruit, and ye shall become my disciples. NIV 8 This is to my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples. YLT 9 According as the Father did love me, I also loved you, remain in my love; NIV 9 "As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. YLT 10 if my commandments ye may keep, ye shall remain in my love, according as I the commands of my Father have kept, and do remain in His love; NIV 10 If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father's commands and remain in his love. YLT 11 these things I have spoken to you, that my joy in you may remain, and your joy may be full. NIV 11 I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. YLT 12 `This is my command, that ye love one another, according as I did love you; NIV 12 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. YLT 13 greater love than this hath no one, that any one his life may lay down for his friends; NIV 13 Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. YLT 14 ye are my friends, if ye may do whatever I command you; NIV 14 You are my friends if you do what I command. YLT 15 no more do I call you servants, because the servant hath not known what his lord doth, and you I have called friends, because all things that I heard from my Father, I did make known to you. NIV 15 I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master's business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. YLT 16 `Ye did not choose out me, but I chose out you, and did appoint you, that ye might go away, and might bear fruit, and your fruit might remain, that whatever ye may ask of the Father in my name, He may give you. NIV 16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit--fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. YLT 17 `These things I command you, that ye love one another; NIV 17 This is my command: Love each other. YLT 18 if the world doth hate you, ye know that it hath hated me before you; NIV 18 "If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. YLT 19 if of the world ye were, the world its own would have been loving, and because of the world ye are not -- but I chose out of the world -- because of this the world hateth you. NIV 19 If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. YLT 20 `Remember the word that I said to you, A servant is not greater than his lord; if me they did persecute, you also they will persecute; if my word they did keep, yours also they will keep; NIV 20 Remember the words I spoke to you: 'No servant is greater than his master.' If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also. YLT 21 but all these things will they do to you, because of my name, because they have not known Him who sent me; NIV 21 They will treat you this way because of my name, for they do not know the One who sent me. YLT 22 if I had not come and spoken to them, they were not having sin; but now pretext they have not for their sin. NIV 22 If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of sin. Now, however, they have no excuse for their sin. YLT 23 `He who is hating me, doth hate also my Father; NIV 23 He who hates me hates my Father as well. YLT 24 if I did not do among them the works that no other hath done, they were not having sin, and now they have both seen and hated both me and my Father; NIV 24 If I had not done among them what no one else did, they would not be guilty of sin. But now they have seen these miracles, and yet they have hated both me and my Father. YLT 25 but -- that the word may be fulfilled that was written in their law -- They hated me without a cause. NIV 25 But this is to fulfill what is written in their Law: 'They hated me without reason.' YLT 26 `And when the Comforter may come, whom I will send to you from the Father -- the Spirit of truth, who from the Father doth come forth, he will testify of me; NIV 26 "When the Counselor comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father, he will testify about me. YLT 27 and ye also do testify, because from the beginning ye are with me. NIV 27 And you also must testify, for you have been with me from the beginning.
