John 15:1-17

NLT 1 “I am the true grapevine, and my Father is the gardener. NIV 1 "I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. NLT 2 He cuts off every branch of mine that doesn’t produce fruit, and he prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more. NIV 2 He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. NLT 3 You have already been pruned and purified by the message I have given you. NIV 3 You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. NLT 4 Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me. NIV 4 Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. NLT 5 “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing. NIV 5 "I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. NLT 6 Anyone who does not remain in me is thrown away like a useless branch and withers. Such branches are gathered into a pile to be burned. NIV 6 If anyone does not remain in me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. NLT 7 But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted! NIV 7 If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you. NLT 8 When you produce much fruit, you are my true disciples. This brings great glory to my Father. NIV 8 This is to my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples. NLT 9 “I have loved you even as the Father has loved me. Remain in my love. NIV 9 "As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. NLT 10 When you obey my commandments, you remain in my love, just as I obey my Father’s commandments and remain in his love. NIV 10 If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father's commands and remain in his love. NLT 11 I have told you these things so that you will be filled with my joy. Yes, your joy will overflow! NIV 11 I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. NLT 12 This is my commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you. NIV 12 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. NLT 13 There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. NIV 13 Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. NLT 14 You are my friends if you do what I command. NIV 14 You are my friends if you do what I command. NLT 15 I no longer call you slaves, because a master doesn’t confide in his slaves. Now you are my friends, since I have told you everything the Father told me. NIV 15 I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master's business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. NLT 16 You didn’t choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name. NIV 16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit--fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. NLT 17 This is my command: Love each other. NIV 17 This is my command: Love each other.
