John 15:18-25

NLT 18 "When the world hates you, remember it hated me before it hated you. NIV 18 "If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. NLT 19 The world would love you if you belonged to it, but you don't. I chose you to come out of the world, and so it hates you. NIV 19 If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. NLT 20 Do you remember what I told you? 'A servant is not greater than the master.' Since they persecuted me, naturally they will persecute you. And if they had listened to me, they would listen to you! NIV 20 Remember the words I spoke to you: 'No servant is greater than his master.' If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also. NLT 21 The people of the world will hate you because you belong to me, for they don't know God who sent me. NIV 21 They will treat you this way because of my name, for they do not know the One who sent me. NLT 22 They would not be guilty if I had not come and spoken to them. But now they have no excuse for their sin. NIV 22 If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of sin. Now, however, they have no excuse for their sin. NLT 23 Anyone who hates me hates my Father, too. NIV 23 He who hates me hates my Father as well. NLT 24 If I hadn't done such miraculous signs among them that no one else could do, they would not be counted guilty. But as it is, they saw all that I did and yet hated both of us -- me and my Father. NIV 24 If I had not done among them what no one else did, they would not be guilty of sin. But now they have seen these miracles, and yet they have hated both me and my Father. NLT 25 This has fulfilled what the Scriptures said: 'They hated me without cause.' " NIV 25 But this is to fulfill what is written in their Law: 'They hated me without reason.'
