John 1:1-18

NRS 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. NIV 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. NRS 14 And the Word became flesh and lived among us, and we have seen his glory, the glory as of a father's only son, full of grace and truth. NIV 14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. NRS 15 (John testified to him and cried out, "This was he of whom I said, "He who comes after me ranks ahead of me because he was before me.' ") NIV 15 John testifies concerning him. He cries out, saying, "This was he of whom I said, 'He who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.' " NRS 16 From his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace. NIV 16 From the fullness of his grace we have all received one blessing after another. NRS 17 The law indeed was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. NIV 17 For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. NRS 18 No one has ever seen God. It is God the only Son, who is close to the Father's heart, who has made him known. NIV 18 No one has ever seen God, but God the One and Only, who is at the Father's side, has made him known.
