John 1:1-18

RSV 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. NIV 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. RSV 2 He was in the beginning with God; NIV 2 He was with God in the beginning. RSV 3 all things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made. RSV 14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth; we have beheld his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father. NIV 14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. RSV 15 (John bore witness to him, and cried, "This was he of whom I said, 'He who comes after me ranks before me, for he was before me.'") NIV 15 John testifies concerning him. He cries out, saying, "This was he of whom I said, 'He who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.' " RSV 16 And from his fulness have we all received, grace upon grace. NIV 16 From the fullness of his grace we have all received one blessing after another. RSV 17 For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. NIV 17 For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. RSV 18 No one has ever seen God; the only Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, he has made him known.
