John 1:4-14

CJB 4 In him was life, and the life was the light of mankind. NIV 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of men. CJB 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not suppressed it. NIV 5 The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it. CJB 6 There was a man sent from God whose name was Yochanan. NIV 6 There came a man who was sent from God; his name was John. CJB 7 He came to be a testimony, to bear witness concerning the light; so that through him, everyone might put his trust in God and be faithful to him. NIV 7 He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all men might believe. CJB 8 He himself was not that light; no, he came to bear witness concerning the light. NIV 8 He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light. CJB 9 This was the true light, which gives light to everyone entering the world. NIV 9 The true light that gives light to every man was coming into the world. CJB 10 He was in the world -- the world came to be through him -- yet the world did not know him. NIV 10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. CJB 11 He came to his own homeland, yet his own people did not receive him. NIV 11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. CJB 12 But to as many as did receive him, to those who put their trust in his person and power, he gave the right to become children of God, NIV 12 Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God-- CJB 13 not because of bloodline, physical impulse or human intention, but because of God. NIV 13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God. CJB 14 The Word became a human being and lived with us, and we saw his Sh'khinah, the Sh'khinah of the Father's only Son, full of grace and truth. NIV 14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
