CEB 1 On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee. Jesus' mother was there, and NRS 1 On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. CEB 8 Then he told them, "Now draw some from them and take it to the headwaiter," and they did. NRS 8 He said to them, "Now draw some out, and take it to the chief steward." So they took it. CEB 9 The headwaiter tasted the water that had become wine. He didn't know where it came from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew. The headwaiter called the groom NRS 9 When the steward tasted the water that had become wine, and did not know where it came from (though the servants who had drawn the water knew), the steward called the bridegroom CEB 10 and said, "Everyone serves the good wine first. They bring out the second-rate wine only when the guests are drinking freely. You kept the good wine until now." NRS 10 and said to him, "Everyone serves the good wine first, and then the inferior wine after the guests have become drunk. But you have kept the good wine until now." CEB 11 This was the first miraculous sign that Jesus did in Cana of Galilee. He revealed his glory, and his disciples believed in him. NRS 11 Jesus did this, the first of his signs, in Cana of Galilee, and revealed his glory; and his disciples believed in him.
