John 3:22-36

NRS 22 After this Jesus and his disciples went into the Judean countryside, and he spent some time there with them and baptized. NIV 22 After this, Jesus and his disciples went out into the Judean countryside, where he spent some time with them, and baptized. NRS 23 John also was baptizing at Aenon near Salim because water was abundant there; and people kept coming and were being baptized NIV 23 Now John also was baptizing at Aenon near Salim, because there was plenty of water, and people were constantly coming to be baptized. NRS 26 They came to John and said to him, "Rabbi, the one who was with you across the Jordan, to whom you testified, here he is baptizing, and all are going to him." NIV 26 They came to John and said to him, "Rabbi, that man who was with you on the other side of the Jordan--the one you testified about--well, he is baptizing, and everyone is going to him." NRS 27 John answered, "No one can receive anything except what has been given from heaven. NIV 27 To this John replied, "A man can receive only what is given him from heaven. NRS 28 You yourselves are my witnesses that I said, "I am not the Messiah, but I have been sent ahead of him.' NIV 28 You yourselves can testify that I said, 'I am not the Christ but am sent ahead of him.' NRS 29 He who has the bride is the bridegroom. The friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices greatly at the bridegroom's voice. For this reason my joy has been fulfilled. NIV 29 The bride belongs to the bridegroom. The friend who attends the bridegroom waits and listens for him, and is full of joy when he hears the bridegroom's voice. That joy is mine, and it is now complete. NRS 30 He must increase, but I must decrease." NIV 30 He must become greater; I must become less. NRS 31 The one who comes from above is above all; the one who is of the earth belongs to the earth and speaks about earthly things. The one who comes from heaven is above all. NIV 31 "The one who comes from above is above all; the one who is from the earth belongs to the earth, and speaks as one from the earth. The one who comes from heaven is above all. NRS 32 He testifies to what he has seen and heard, yet no one accepts his testimony. NIV 32 He testifies to what he has seen and heard, but no one accepts his testimony. NRS 33 Whoever has accepted his testimony has certified this, that God is true. NIV 33 The man who has accepted it has certified that God is truthful. NRS 34 He whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for he gives the Spirit without measure. NIV 34 For the one whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God gives the Spirit without limit. NRS 35 The Father loves the Son and has placed all things in his hands. NIV 35 The Father loves the Son and has placed everything in his hands. NRS 36 Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever disobeys the Son will not see life, but must endure God's wrath.
