John 4:30-40

CEB 30 They left the city and were on their way to see Jesus. NIV 30 They came out of the town and made their way toward him. CEB 31 In the meantime the disciples spoke to Jesus, saying, "Rabbi, eat." NIV 31 Meanwhile his disciples urged him, "Rabbi, eat something." CEB 32 Jesus said to them, "I have food to eat that you don't know about." NIV 32 But he said to them, "I have food to eat that you know nothing about." CEB 33 The disciples asked each other, "Has someone brought him food?" NIV 33 Then his disciples said to each other, "Could someone have brought him food?" CEB 34 Jesus said to them, "I am fed by doing the will of the one who sent me and by completing his work. NIV 34 "My food," said Jesus, "is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work. CEB 35 Don't you have a saying, ‘Four more months and then it's time for harvest'? Look, I tell you: open your eyes and notice that the fields are already ripe for the harvest. NIV 35 Do you not say, 'Four months more and then the harvest'? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest. CEB 36 Those who harvest are receiving their pay and gathering fruit for eternal life so that those who sow and those who harvest can celebrate together. NIV 36 Even now the reaper draws his wages, even now he harvests the crop for eternal life, so that the sower and the reaper may be glad together. CEB 37 This is a true saying, that one sows and another harvests. NIV 37 Thus the saying 'One sows and another reaps' is true. CEB 38 I have sent you to harvest what you didn't work hard for; others worked hard, and you will share in their hard work." NIV 38 I sent you to reap what you have not worked for. Others have done the hard work, and you have reaped the benefits of their labor." CEB 39 Many Samaritans in that city believed in Jesus because of the woman's word when she testified, "He told me everything I've ever done." NIV 39 Many of the Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the woman's testimony, "He told me everything I ever did." CEB 40 So when the Samaritans came to Jesus, they asked him to stay with them, and he stayed there two days. NIV 40 So when the Samaritans came to him, they urged him to stay with them, and he stayed two days.
