John 7:3-10

MSG 3 His brothers said, "Why don't you leave here and go up to the Feast so your disciples can get a good look at the works you do? NIV 3 Jesus' brothers said to him, "You ought to leave here and go to Judea, so that your disciples may see the miracles you do. MSG 4 No one who intends to be publicly known does everything behind the scenes. If you're serious about what you are doing, come out in the open and show the world." NIV 4 No one who wants to become a public figure acts in secret. Since you are doing these things, show yourself to the world." MSG 5 His brothers were pushing him like this because they didn't believe in him either. NIV 5 For even his own brothers did not believe in him. MSG 6 Jesus came back at them, "Don't crowd me. This isn't my time. It's your time - it's always your time; you have nothing to lose. NIV 6 Therefore Jesus told them, "The right time for me has not yet come; for you any time is right. MSG 7 The world has nothing against you, but it's up in arms against me. It's against me because I expose the evil behind its pretensions. NIV 7 The world cannot hate you, but it hates me because I testify that what it does is evil. MSG 8 You go ahead, go up to the Feast. Don't wait for me. I'm not ready. It's not the right time for me." NIV 8 You go to the Feast. I am not yet going up to this Feast, because for me the right time has not yet come." MSG 9 He said this and stayed on in Galilee. NIV 9 Having said this, he stayed in Galilee. MSG 10 But later, after his family had gone up to the Feast, he also went. But he kept out of the way, careful not to draw attention to himself. NIV 10 However, after his brothers had left for the Feast, he went also, not publicly, but in secret.
