John 8:4-11

NLT 4 “Teacher,” they said to Jesus, “this woman was caught in the act of adultery. NIV 4 and said to Jesus, "Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. NLT 5 The law of Moses says to stone her. What do you say?” NIV 5 In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?" NLT 6 They were trying to trap him into saying something they could use against him, but Jesus stooped down and wrote in the dust with his finger. NIV 6 They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him. But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger. NLT 7 They kept demanding an answer, so he stood up again and said, “All right, but let the one who has never sinned throw the first stone!” NIV 7 When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, "If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her." NLT 8 Then he stooped down again and wrote in the dust. NIV 8 Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground. NLT 9 When the accusers heard this, they slipped away one by one, beginning with the oldest, until only Jesus was left in the middle of the crowd with the woman. NIV 9 At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there. NLT 10 Then Jesus stood up again and said to the woman, “Where are your accusers? Didn’t even one of them condemn you?” NIV 10 Jesus straightened up and asked her, "Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?" NLT 11 “No, Lord,” she said. And Jesus said, “Neither do I. Go and sin no more.” ---------- NIV 11 "No one, sir," she said. "Then neither do I condemn you," Jesus declared. "Go now and leave your life of sin."
