Judges 6:9-19

NLT 9 I rescued you from the Egyptians and from all who oppressed you. I drove out your enemies and gave you their land. NIV 9 I snatched you from the power of Egypt and from the hand of all your oppressors. I drove them from before you and gave you their land. NLT 10 I told you, ‘I am the your God. You must not worship the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you now live.’ But you have not listened to me.” NIV 10 I said to you, 'I am the LORD your God; do not worship the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you live.' But you have not listened to me." NLT 11 Then the angel of the came and sat beneath the great tree at Ophrah, which belonged to Joash of the clan of Abiezer. Gideon son of Joash was threshing wheat at the bottom of a winepress to hide the grain from the Midianites. NIV 11 The angel of the LORD came and sat down under the oak in Ophrah that belonged to Joash the Abiezrite, where his son Gideon was threshing wheat in a winepress to keep it from the Midianites. NLT 12 The angel of the appeared to him and said, “Mighty hero, the is with you!” NIV 12 When the angel of the LORD appeared to Gideon, he said, "The LORD is with you, mighty warrior." NLT 13 “Sir,” Gideon replied, “if the is with us, why has all this happened to us? And where are all the miracles our ancestors told us about? Didn’t they say, ‘The brought us up out of Egypt’? But now the has abandoned us and handed us over to the Midianites.” NIV 13 "But sir," Gideon replied, "if the LORD is with us, why has all this happened to us? Where are all his wonders that our fathers told us about when they said, 'Did not the LORD bring us up out of Egypt?' But now the LORD has abandoned us and put us into the hand of Midian." NLT 14 Then the turned to him and said, “Go with the strength you have, and rescue Israel from the Midianites. I am sending you!” NIV 14 The LORD turned to him and said, "Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian's hand. Am I not sending you?" NLT 15 “But Lord,” Gideon replied, “how can I rescue Israel? My clan is the weakest in the whole tribe of Manasseh, and I am the least in my entire family!” NIV 15 "But Lord, " Gideon asked, "how can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family." NLT 16 The said to him, “I will be with you. And you will destroy the Midianites as if you were fighting against one man.” NIV 16 The LORD answered, "I will be with you, and you will strike down all the Midianites together." NLT 17 Gideon replied, “If you are truly going to help me, show me a sign to prove that it is really the speaking to me. NIV 17 Gideon replied, "If now I have found favor in your eyes, give me a sign that it is really you talking to me. NLT 18 Don’t go away until I come back and bring my offering to you.” He answered, “I will stay here until you return.” NIV 18 Please do not go away until I come back and bring my offering and set it before you." And the LORD said, "I will wait until you return." NLT 19 Gideon hurried home. He cooked a young goat, and with a basket of flour he baked some bread without yeast. Then, carrying the meat in a basket and the broth in a pot, he brought them out and presented them to the angel, who was under the great tree. NIV 19 Gideon went in, prepared a young goat, and from an ephah of flour he made bread without yeast. Putting the meat in a basket and its broth in a pot, he brought them out and offered them to him under the oak.
