Leviticus 23

BBE 1 And the Lord said to Moses, NIV 1 The LORD said to Moses, BBE 2 Say to the children of Israel, These are the fixed feasts of the Lord, which you will keep for holy meetings: these are my feasts. NIV 2 "Speak to the Israelites and say to them: 'These are my appointed feasts, the appointed feasts of the LORD, which you are to proclaim as sacred assemblies. BBE 3 On six days work may be done; but the seventh day is a special day of rest, a time for worship; you may do no sort of work: it is a Sabbath to the Lord wherever you may be living. NIV 3 " 'There are six days when you may work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of rest, a day of sacred assembly. You are not to do any work; wherever you live, it is a Sabbath to the LORD. BBE 4 These are the fixed feasts of the Lord, the holy days of worship which you will keep at their regular times NIV 4 " 'These are the LORD's appointed feasts, the sacred assemblies you are to proclaim at their appointed times:#cr BBE 5 In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month at nightfall, is the Lord's Passover; NIV 5 The LORD's Passover begins at twilight on the fourteenth day of the first month. BBE 6 And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread; for seven days let your food be unleavened bread. NIV 6 On the fifteenth day of that month the LORD's Feast of Unleavened Bread begins; for seven days you must eat bread made without yeast. BBE 7 On the first day you will have a holy meeting; you may do no sort of field-work. NIV 7 On the first day hold a sacred assembly and do no regular work. BBE 8 And every day for seven days you will give a burned offering to the Lord; and on the seventh day there will be a holy meeting; you may do no field-work. NIV 8 For seven days present an offering made to the LORD by fire. And on the seventh day hold a sacred assembly and do no regular work.' " BBE 9 And the Lord said to Moses, NIV 9 The LORD said to Moses, BBE 10 Say to the children of Israel, When you have come to the land which I will give you, and have got in the grain from its fields, take some of the first-fruits of the grain to the priest; NIV 10 "Speak to the Israelites and say to them: 'When you enter the land I am going to give you and you reap its harvest, bring to the priest a sheaf of the first grain you harvest. BBE 11 And let the grain be waved before the Lord, so that you may be pleasing to him; on the day after the Sabbath let it be waved by the priest. NIV 11 He is to wave the sheaf before the LORD so it will be accepted on your behalf; the priest is to wave it on the day after the Sabbath. BBE 12 And on the day of the waving of the grain, you are to give a male lamb of the first year, without any mark, for a burned offering to the Lord. NIV 12 On the day you wave the sheaf, you must sacrifice as a burnt offering to the LORD a lamb a year old without defect, BBE 13 And let the meal offering with it be two tenth parts of an ephah of the best meal mixed with oil, an offering made by fire to the Lord for a sweet smell; and the drink offering with it is to be of wine, the fourth part of a hin. NIV 13 together with its grain offering of two-tenths of an ephah of fine flour mixed with oil--an offering made to the LORD by fire, a pleasing aroma--and its drink offering of a quarter of a hin of wine. BBE 14 And you may take no bread or dry grain or new grain for food till the very day on which you have given the offering for your God: this is a rule for ever through all your generations wherever you are living NIV 14 You must not eat any bread, or roasted or new grain, until the very day you bring this offering to your God. This is to be a lasting ordinance for the generations to come, wherever you live. BBE 15 And let seven full weeks be numbered from the day after the Sabbath, the day when you give the grain for the wave offering; NIV 15 " 'From the day after the Sabbath, the day you brought the sheaf of the wave offering, count off seven full weeks. BBE 16 Let fifty days be numbered, to the day after the seventh Sabbath; then you are to give a new meal offering to the Lord. NIV 16 Count off fifty days up to the day after the seventh Sabbath, and then present an offering of new grain to the LORD. BBE 17 Take from your houses two cakes of bread, made of a fifth part of an ephah of the best meal, cooked with leaven, to be waved for first-fruits to the Lord. NIV 17 From wherever you live, bring two loaves made of two-tenths of an ephah of fine flour, baked with yeast, as a wave offering of firstfruits to the LORD. BBE 18 And with the bread, take seven lambs of the first year, without any marks, and one ox and two male sheep, to be a burned offering to the Lord, with their meal offering and their drink offerings, an offering of a sweet smell made by fire to the Lord. NIV 18 Present with this bread seven male lambs, each a year old and without defect, one young bull and two rams. They will be a burnt offering to the LORD, together with their grain offerings and drink offerings--an offering made by fire, an aroma pleasing to the LORD. BBE 19 And you are to give one male goat for a sin-offering and two male lambs of the first year for peace-offerings NIV 19 Then sacrifice one male goat for a sin offering and two lambs, each a year old, for a fellowship offering.#fn BBE 20 And these will be waved by the priest, with the bread of the first-fruits, for a wave offering to the Lord, with the two lambs: they will be holy to the Lord for the priest. NIV 20 The priest is to wave the two lambs before the LORD as a wave offering, together with the bread of the firstfruits. They are a sacred offering to the LORD for the priest. BBE 21 And on the same day, let it be given out that there will be a holy meeting for you: you may do no field-work on that day: it is a rule for ever through all your generations wherever you are living NIV 21 On that same day you are to proclaim a sacred assembly and do no regular work. This is to be a lasting ordinance for the generations to come, wherever you live BBE 22 And when you get in the grain from your land, do not let all the grain at the edges of the field be cut, and do not take up the grain which has been dropped in the field; let that be for the poor, and for the man from another country: I am the Lord your God. NIV 22 " 'When you reap the harvest of your land, do not reap to the very edges of your field or gather the gleanings of your harvest. Leave them for the poor and the alien. I am the LORD your God.' " BBE 23 And the Lord said to Moses, NIV 23 The LORD said to Moses, BBE 24 Say to the children of Israel, In the seventh month, on the first day of the month, let there be a special day of rest for you, a day of memory, marked by the blowing of horns, a meeting for worship. NIV 24 "Say to the Israelites: 'On the first day of the seventh month you are to have a day of rest, a sacred assembly commemorated with trumpet blasts. BBE 25 Do no field-work and give to the Lord an offering made by fire. NIV 25 Do no regular work, but present an offering made to the LORD by fire.' " BBE 26 And the Lord said to Moses, NIV 26 The LORD said to Moses, BBE 27 The tenth day of this seventh month is the day for the taking away of sin; let it be a holy day of worship; you are to keep from pleasure, and give to the Lord an offering made by fire. NIV 27 "The tenth day of this seventh month is the Day of Atonement. Hold a sacred assembly and deny yourselves, and present an offering made to the LORD by fire. BBE 28 And on that day you may do no sort of work, for it is a day of taking away sin, to make you clean before the Lord your God. NIV 28 Do no work on that day, because it is the Day of Atonement, when atonement is made for you before the LORD your God. BBE 29 For any person, whoever he may be, who takes his pleasure on that day will be cut off from his people. NIV 29 Anyone who does not deny himself on that day must be cut off from his people. BBE 30 And if any person, whoever he may be, on that day does any sort of work, I will send destruction on him from among his people. NIV 30 I will destroy from among his people anyone who does any work on that day. BBE 31 You may not do any sort of work: this is an order for ever through all your generations wherever you may be living. NIV 31 You shall do no work at all. This is to be a lasting ordinance for the generations to come, wherever you live. BBE 32 Let this be a Sabbath of special rest to you, and keep yourselves from all pleasure; on the ninth day of the month at nightfall from evening to evening, let this Sabbath be kept. NIV 32 It is a sabbath of rest for you, and you must deny yourselves. From the evening of the ninth day of the month until the following evening you are to observe your sabbath." BBE 33 And the Lord said to Moses, NIV 33 The LORD said to Moses, BBE 34 Say to the children of Israel, On the fifteenth day of this seventh month let the feast of tents be kept to the Lord for seven days. NIV 34 "Say to the Israelites: 'On the fifteenth day of the seventh month the LORD's Feast of Tabernacles begins, and it lasts for seven days. BBE 35 On the first day there will be a holy meeting: do no field-work. NIV 35 The first day is a sacred assembly; do no regular work. BBE 36 Every day for seven days give an offering made by fire to the Lord; and on the eighth day there is to be a holy meeting, when you are to give an offering made by fire to the Lord; this is a special holy day: you may do no field-work on that day NIV 36 For seven days present offerings made to the LORD by fire, and on the eighth day hold a sacred assembly and present an offering made to the LORD by fire. It is the closing assembly; do no regular work BBE 37 These are the fixed feasts of the Lord, to be kept by you as holy days of worship, for making an offering by fire to the Lord; a burned offering, a meal offering, an offering of beasts, and drink offerings; every one on its special day; NIV 37 (" 'These are the LORD's appointed feasts, which you are to proclaim as sacred assemblies for bringing offerings made to the LORD by fire--the burnt offerings and grain offerings, sacrifices and drink offerings required for each day. BBE 38 In addition to the Sabbaths of the Lord, and in addition to the things you give and the oaths you make and the free offerings to the Lord NIV 38 These offerings are in addition to those for the LORD's Sabbaths and in addition to your gifts and whatever you have vowed and all the freewill offerings you give to the LORD. BBE 39 But on the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when you have got in all the fruits of the land, you will keep the feast of the Lord for seven days: the first day will be a Sabbath, and the eighth day the same. NIV 39 " 'So beginning with the fifteenth day of the seventh month, after you have gathered the crops of the land, celebrate the festival to the LORD for seven days; the first day is a day of rest, and the eighth day also is a day of rest. BBE 40 On the first day, take the fruit of fair trees, branches of palm-trees, and branches of thick trees and trees from the riverside, and be glad before the Lord for seven days. NIV 40 On the first day you are to take choice fruit from the trees, and palm fronds, leafy branches and poplars, and rejoice before the LORD your God for seven days. BBE 41 And let this feast be kept before the Lord for seven days in the year: it is a rule for ever from generation to generation; in the seventh month let it be kept. NIV 41 Celebrate this as a festival to the LORD for seven days each year. This is to be a lasting ordinance for the generations to come; celebrate it in the seventh month. BBE 42 For seven days you will be living in tents; all those who are Israelites by birth are to make tents their living-places: NIV 42 Live in booths for seven days: All native-born Israelites are to live in booths BBE 43 So that future generations may keep in mind how I gave the children of Israel tents as their living-places when I took them out of the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God. NIV 43 so your descendants will know that I had the Israelites live in booths when I brought them out of Egypt. I am the LORD your God.' " BBE 44 And Moses made clear to the children of Israel the orders about the fixed feasts of the Lord. NIV 44 So Moses announced to the Israelites the appointed feasts of the LORD.
