NAS 33 "But a Samaritan, who was on a journey, came upon him; and when he saw him, he felt compassion, NIV 33 But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. NAS 34 and came to him and bandaged up his wounds, pouring oil and wine on them; and he put him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn and took care of him. NAS 35 "On the next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper and said, 'Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, when I return I will repay you.' NIV 35 The next day he took out two silver coins and gave them to the innkeeper. 'Look after him,' he said, 'and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.' NAS 36 "Which of these three do you think proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell into the robbers' hands?" NIV 36 "Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?" NAS 37 And he said, "The one who showed mercy toward him." Then Jesus said to him, "Go and do the same." NIV 37 The expert in the law replied, "The one who had mercy on him." Jesus told him, "Go and do likewise." NAS 38 Now as they were traveling along, He entered a village; and a woman named Martha welcomed Him into her home. NIV 38 As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. NAS 39 She had a sister called Mary, who was seated at the Lord's feet, listening to His word. NIV 39 She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet listening to what he said. NAS 40 But Martha was distracted with all her preparations; and she came up to Him and said, "Lord , do You not care that my sister has left me to do all the serving alone? Then tell her to help me." NIV 40 But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, "Lord, don't you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself ? Tell her to help me!" NAS 41 But the Lord answered and said to her, "Martha, Martha, you are worried and bothered about so many things; NIV 41 "Martha, Martha," the Lord answered, "you are worried and upset about many things, NAS 42 but only one thing is necessary, for Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her." NIV 42 but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her."
