Luke 14:1-6

ESV 1 One Sabbath, when he went to dine at the house of a ruler of the Pharisees, they were watching him carefully. NIV 1 One Sabbath, when Jesus went to eat in the house of a prominent Pharisee, he was being carefully watched. ESV 2 And behold, there was a man before him who had dropsy. NIV 2 There in front of him was a man suffering from dropsy. ESV 3 And Jesus responded to the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, "Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath, or not?" NIV 3 Jesus asked the Pharisees and experts in the law, "Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath or not?" ESV 4 But they remained silent. Then he took him and healed him and sent him away. NIV 4 But they remained silent. So taking hold of the man, he healed him and sent him away. ESV 5 And he said to them, "Which of you, having a son or an ox that has fallen into a well on a Sabbath day, will not immediately pull him out?" NIV 5 Then he asked them, "If one of you has a son or an ox that falls into a well on the Sabbath day, will you not immediately pull him out?" ESV 6 And they could not reply to these things. NIV 6 And they had nothing to say.
