NRS 18 A certain ruler asked him, "Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?" NIV 18 A certain ruler asked him, "Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?" NRS 19 Jesus said to him, "Why do you call me good? No one is good but God alone. NIV 19 "Why do you call me good?" Jesus answered. "No one is good--except God alone. " NRS 21 He replied, "I have kept all these since my youth." NIV 21 "All these I have kept since I was a boy," he said. NRS 22 When Jesus heard this, he said to him, "There is still one thing lacking. Sell all that you own and distribute the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me." NIV 22 When Jesus heard this, he said to him, "You still lack one thing. Sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me." NRS 23 But when he heard this, he became sad; for he was very rich. NIV 23 When he heard this, he became very sad, because he was a man of great wealth. NRS 24 Jesus looked at him and said, "How hard it is for those who have wealth to enter the kingdom of God! NIV 27 Jesus replied, "What is impossible with men is possible with God." NRS 28 Then Peter said, "Look, we have left our homes and followed you." NIV 28 Peter said to him, "We have left all we had to follow you!" NRS 29 And he said to them, "Truly I tell you, there is no one who has left house or wife or brothers or parents or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God, NIV 29 "I tell you the truth," Jesus said to them, "no one who has left home or wife or brothers or parents or children for the sake of the kingdom of God NRS 30 who will not get back very much more in this age, and in the age to come eternal life." NIV 30 will fail to receive many times as much in this age and, in the age to come, eternal life."
