Luke 1:57-80

RSV 57 Now the time came for Elizabeth to be delivered, and she gave birth to a son. NIV 57 When it was time for Elizabeth to have her baby, she gave birth to a son. RSV 58 And her neighbors and kinsfolk heard that the Lord had shown great mercy to her, and they rejoiced with her. NIV 61 They said to her, "There is no one among your relatives who has that name." RSV 62 And they made signs to his father, inquiring what he would have him called. NIV 62 Then they made signs to his father, to find out what he would like to name the child. RSV 63 And he asked for a writing tablet, and wrote, "His name is John." And they all marveled. NIV 63 He asked for a writing tablet, and to everyone's astonishment he wrote, "His name is John." RSV 64 And immediately his mouth was opened and his tongue loosed, and he spoke, blessing God. And all these things were talked about through all the hill country of Judea; NIV 65 The neighbors were all filled with awe, and throughout the hill country of Judea people were talking about all these things. RSV 66 and all who heard them laid them up in their hearts, saying, "What then will this child be?" For the hand of the Lord was with him.
