Luke 20:22-32

DBY 22 Is it lawful for us to give tribute to Caesar, or not? NIV 22 Is it right for us to pay taxes to Caesar or not?" DBY 23 But perceiving their deceit he said to them, Why do ye tempt me? NIV 23 He saw through their duplicity and said to them, DBY 24 Shew me a denarius. Whose image and superscription has it? And answering they said, Caesar's. NIV 24 "Show me a denarius. Whose portrait and inscription are on it?" DBY 25 And he said to them, Pay therefore what is Caesar's to Caesar, and what is God's to God. NIV 25 "Caesar's," they replied. He said to them, "Then give to Caesar what is Caesar's, and to God what is God's." DBY 26 And they were not able to take hold of him in [his] expressions before the people, and, wondering at his answer, they were silent. NIV 26 They were unable to trap him in what he had said there in public. And astonished by his answer, they became silent. DBY 27 And some of the Sadducees, who deny that there is any resurrection, coming up [to him], NIV 27 Some of the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to Jesus with a question. DBY 28 demanded of him saying, Teacher, Moses wrote to us, If any one's brother, who has a wife, die, and he die childless, his brother shall take the wife and raise up seed to his brother. NIV 28 "Teacher," they said, "Moses wrote for us that if a man's brother dies and leaves a wife but no children, the man must marry the widow and have children for his brother. DBY 29 There were then seven brethren: and the first, having taken a wife, died childless; NIV 29 Now there were seven brothers. The first one married a woman and died childless. DBY 30 and the second [took the woman, and *he* died childless]; NIV 30 The second DBY 31 and the third took her: and in like manner also the seven left no children and died; NIV 31 and then the third married her, and in the same way the seven died, leaving no children. DBY 32 and last of all the woman also died. NIV 32 Finally, the woman died too.
