ASV 5 And as some spake of the temple, how it was adorned with goodly stones and offerings, he said, NIV 5 Some of his disciples were remarking about how the temple was adorned with beautiful stones and with gifts dedicated to God. But Jesus said, ASV 6 As for these things which ye behold, the days will come, in which there shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down. NIV 6 "As for what you see here, the time will come when not one stone will be left on another; every one of them will be thrown down." ASV 7 And they asked him, saying, Teacher, when therefore shall these things be? and what [shall be] the sign when these things are about to come to pass? NIV 7 "Teacher," they asked, "when will these things happen? And what will be the sign that they are about to take place?" ASV 8 And he said, Take heed that ye be not led astray: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am [he]; and, The time is at hand: go ye not after them. ASV 9 And when ye shall hear of wars and tumults, be not terrified: for these things must needs come to pass first; but the end is not immediately. NIV 9 When you hear of wars and revolutions, do not be frightened. These things must happen first, but the end will not come right away." ASV 10 Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; NIV 10 Then he said to them: "Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. ASV 11 and there shall be great earthquakes, and in divers places famines and pestilences; and there shall be terrors and great signs from heaven. ASV 12 But before all these things, they shall lay their hands on you, and shall persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and prisons, bringing you before kings and governors for my name's sake. NIV 12 "But before all this, they will lay hands on you and persecute you. They will deliver you to synagogues and prisons, and you will be brought before kings and governors, and all on account of my name. ASV 13 It shall turn out unto you for a testimony. NIV 15 For I will give you words and wisdom that none of your adversaries will be able to resist or contradict. ASV 16 But ye shall be delivered up even by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolk, and friends; and [some] of you shall they cause to be put to death. ASV 31 Even so ye also, when ye see these things coming to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh. NIV 31 Even so, when you see these things happening, you know that the kingdom of God is near. ASV 32 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all things be accomplished.
