Luke 23:26-56

RSV 26 And as they led him away, they seized one Simon of Cyre'ne, who was coming in from the country, and laid on him the cross, to carry it behind Jesus. RSV 27 And there followed him a great multitude of the people, and of women who bewailed and lamented him. RSV 28 But Jesus turning to them said, "Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me, but weep for yourselves and for your children. RSV 39 One of the criminals who were hanged railed at him, saying, "Are you not the Christ? Save yourself and us!" NIV 39 One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: "Aren't you the Christ? Save yourself and us!" RSV 40 But the other rebuked him, saying, "Do you not fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation? NIV 40 But the other criminal rebuked him. "Don't you fear God," he said, "since you are under the same sentence? RSV 41 And we indeed justly; for we are receiving the due reward of our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong." NIV 41 We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong." RSV 42 And he said, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom." NIV 42 Then he said, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom. " RSV 43 And he said to him, "Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise." NIV 43 Jesus answered him, "I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise." RSV 48 And all the multitudes who assembled to see the sight, when they saw what had taken place, returned home beating their breasts. RSV 49 And all his acquaintances and the women who had followed him from Galilee stood at a distance and saw these things. RSV 50 Now there was a man named Joseph from the Jewish town of Arimathe'a. RSV 54 It was the day of Preparation, and the sabbath was beginning. NIV 54 It was Preparation Day, and the Sabbath was about to begin. RSV 55 The women who had come with him from Galilee followed, and saw the tomb, and how his body was laid; NIV 55 The women who had come with Jesus from Galilee followed Joseph and saw the tomb and how his body was laid in it. RSV 56 then they returned, and prepared spices and ointments. On the sabbath they rested according to the commandment. NIV 56 Then they went home and prepared spices and perfumes. But they rested on the Sabbath in obedience to the commandment.
