The crooked roads shall become straight, the rough ways smooth. LEB 6 and all flesh will see the salvation of God.'" NIV 6 And all mankind will see God's salvation.' " LEB 7 Therefore he was saying to the crowds that came out to be baptized by him, "Offspring of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath? NIV 7 John said to the crowds coming out to be baptized by him, "You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath? LEB 8 Therefore produce fruit worthy of repentance! NIV 8 Produce fruit in keeping with repentance. And do not begin to say to yourselves, 'We have Abraham as our father.' For I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham. LEB 10 And the crowds were asking him, saying, "What then should we do?" NIV 10 "What should we do then?" the crowd asked. LEB 11 And he answered [and] said to them, "The one who has two tunics must share with the one who does not have [one], and the one who has food must do likewise." NIV 14 Then some soldiers asked him, "And what should we do?" He replied, "Don't extort money and don't accuse people falsely--be content with your pay." LEB 15 And [while] the people were waiting expectantly and all were pondering in their hearts concerning John, whether perhaps he might be the Christ, NIV 15 The people were waiting expectantly and were all wondering in their hearts if John might possibly be the Christ. LEB 16 John answered them all, saying, "I baptize you with water, but the one who is more powerful than I [am] is coming, of whom I am not worthy to untie the strap of his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. NIV 16 John answered them all, "I baptize you with water. But one more powerful than I will come, the thongs of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.
