Luke 7:1-6

NLT 1 When Jesus had finished saying all this, he went back to Capernaum. NIV 1 When Jesus had finished saying all this in the hearing of the people, he entered Capernaum. NLT 2 Now the highly valued slave of a Roman officer was sick and near death. NIV 2 There a centurion's servant, whom his master valued highly, was sick and about to die. NLT 3 When the officer heard about Jesus, he sent some respected Jewish leaders to ask him to come and heal his slave. NIV 3 The centurion heard of Jesus and sent some elders of the Jews to him, asking him to come and heal his servant. NLT 4 So they earnestly begged Jesus to come with them and help the man. "If anyone deserves your help, it is he," they said, NIV 4 When they came to Jesus, they pleaded earnestly with him, "This man deserves to have you do this, NLT 5 "for he loves the Jews and even built a synagogue for us." NIV 5 because he loves our nation and has built our synagogue." NLT 6 So Jesus went with them. But just before they arrived at the house, the officer sent some friends to say, "Lord, don't trouble yourself by coming to my home, for I am not worthy of such an honor. NIV 6 So Jesus went with them. He was not far from the house when the centurion sent friends to say to him: "Lord, don't trouble yourself, for I do not deserve to have you come under my roof.
