NIV

11 The Pharisees came out and began to argue with Him, demanding of Him a sign from heaven to test Him.
11 The Pharisees came and began to question Jesus. To test him, they asked him for a sign from heaven.
12 But sighing deeply in His spirit, He said, "Why does this generation demand a sign? I assure you: No sign will be given to this generation!"
12 He sighed deeply and said, “Why does this generation ask for a sign? Truly I tell you, no sign will be given to it.”
13 Then He left them, got on board [the boat] again, and went to the other side.
13 Then he left them, got back into the boat and crossed to the other side.
14 They had forgotten to take bread and had only one loaf with them in the boat.
14 The disciples had forgotten to bring bread, except for one loaf they had with them in the boat.
15 Then He commanded them: "Watch out! Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and the yeast of Herod."
15 “Be careful,” Jesus warned them. “Watch out for the yeast of the Pharisees and that of Herod.”
16 They were discussing among themselves that they did not have any bread.
16 They discussed this with one another and said, “It is because we have no bread.”
17 Aware of this, He said to them, "Why are you discussing that you do not have any bread? Do you not yet understand or comprehend? Is your heart hardened?
17 Aware of their discussion, Jesus asked them: “Why are you talking about having no bread? Do you still not see or understand? Are your hearts hardened?
18 Do you have eyes, and not see, and do you have ears, and not hear? And do you not remember?
18 Do you have eyes but fail to see, and ears but fail to hear? And don’t you remember?
19 When I broke the five loaves for the 5,000, how many baskets full of pieces of bread did you collect?" "Twelve," they told Him.
19 When I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, how many basketfuls of pieces did you pick up?”“Twelve,” they replied.
20 "When I broke the seven loaves for the 4,000, how many large baskets full of pieces of bread did you collect?" "Seven," they said.
20 “And when I broke the seven loaves for the four thousand, how many basketfuls of pieces did you pick up?”They answered, “Seven.”
21 And He said to them, "Don't you understand yet?"
21 He said to them, “Do you still not understand?”
22 Then they came to Bethsaida. They brought a blind man to Him and begged Him to touch him.
22 They came to Bethsaida, and some people brought a blind man and begged Jesus to touch him.
23 He took the blind man by the hand and brought him out of the village. Spitting on his eyes and laying His hands on him, He asked him, "Do you see anything?"
23 He took the blind man by the hand and led him outside the village. When he had spit on the man’s eyes and put his hands on him, Jesus asked, “Do you see anything?”
24 He looked up and said, "I see people-they look to me like trees walking."
24 He looked up and said, “I see people; they look like trees walking around.”
25 Again Jesus placed His hands on the man's eyes, and he saw distinctly. He was cured and could see everything clearly.
25 Once more Jesus put his hands on the man’s eyes. Then his eyes were opened, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly.
26 Then He sent him home, saying, "Don't even go into the village."
26 Jesus sent him home, saying, “Don’t even go into the village.”
27 Jesus went out with His disciples to the villages of Caesarea Philippi. And on the road He asked His disciples, "Who do people say that I am?"
27 Jesus and his disciples went on to the villages around Caesarea Philippi. On the way he asked them, “Who do people say I am?”
28 They answered Him, "John the Baptist; others, Elijah; still others, one of the prophets."
28 They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, one of the prophets.”
29 "But you," He asked them again, "who do you say that I am?" Peter answered Him, "You are the Messiah!"
29 “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?”Peter answered, “You are the Messiah.”
30 And He strictly warned them to tell no one about Him.
30 Jesus warned them not to tell anyone about him.
