CSB 34 Summoning the crowd along with His disciples, He said to them, "If anyone wants to be My follower, he must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow Me. NIV 34 Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. CSB 35 For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life because of Me and the gospel will save it. NIV 35 For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me and for the gospel will save it. CSB 36 For what does it benefit a man to gain the whole world yet lose his life? NIV 36 What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul? CSB 37 What can a man give in exchange for his life? NIV 37 Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul? CSB 38 For whoever is ashamed of Me and of My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will also be ashamed of him when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels." NIV 38 If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when he comes in his Father's glory with the holy angels."
