NIV 9 Then what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet. RHE 10 For this is he of whom it is written: Behold I send my angel before my face, who shall prepare thy way before thee. RHE 12 And from the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent bear it away. NIV 14 And if you are willing to accept it, he is the Elijah who was to come. RHE 15 He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. NIV 15 He who has ears, let him hear. RHE 16 But whereunto shall I esteem this generation to be like? It is like to children sitting in the market place. NIV 16 "To what can I compare this generation? They are like children sitting in the marketplaces and calling out to others: RHE 17 Who crying to their companions say: We have piped to you, and you have not danced: we have lamented, and you have not mourned. NIV 17 " 'We played the flute for you, and you did not dance; we sang a dirge, and you did not mourn.' RHE 18 For John came neither eating nor drinking; and they say: He hath a devil. NIV 18 For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, 'He has a demon.' NIV 20 Then Jesus began to denounce the cities in which most of his miracles had been performed, because they did not repent. RHE 21 Woe thee, Corozain, woe to thee, Bethsaida: for if in Tyre and Sidon had been wrought the miracles that have been wrought in you, they had long ago done penance in sackcloth and ashes. NIV 21 "Woe to you, Korazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! If the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. RHE 23 And thou Capharnaum, shalt thou be exalted up to heaven? thou shalt go down even unto hell. For if in Sodom had been wrought the miracles that have been wrought in thee, perhaps it had remained unto this day. NIV 23 And you, Capernaum, will you be lifted up to the skies? No, you will go down to the depths. If the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Sodom, it would have remained to this day. RHE 24 But I say unto you, that it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment than for thee. NIV 24 But I tell you that it will be more bearable for Sodom on the day of judgment than for you." RHE 25 At that time Jesus answered and said: I confess to thee, O Father, Lord of Heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them to little ones.
