Matthew 12:17-21

MSG 17 following guidelines set down by Isaiah: NIV 17 This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah: MSG 18 Look well at my handpicked servant; I love him so much, take such delight in him. I've placed my Spirit on him; he'll decree justice to the nations. NIV 18 "Here is my servant whom I have chosen, the one I love, in whom I delight; I will put my Spirit on him, and he will proclaim justice to the nations. MSG 19 But he won't yell, won't raise his voice; there'll be no commotion in the streets. NIV 19 He will not quarrel or cry out; no one will hear his voice in the streets. MSG 20 He won't walk over anyone's feelings, won't push you into a corner. Before you know it, his justice will triumph; NIV 20 A bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out, till he leads justice to victory. MSG 21 the mere sound of his name will signal hope, even among far-off unbelievers. NIV 21 In his name the nations will put their hope."
