Matthew 15:21-28

NRS 21 Jesus left that place and went away to the district of Tyre and Sidon. NIV 21 Leaving that place, Jesus withdrew to the region of Tyre and Sidon. NRS 22 Just then a Canaanite woman from that region came out and started shouting, "Have mercy on me, Lord, Son of David; my daughter is tormented by a demon." NIV 22 A Canaanite woman from that vicinity came to him, crying out, "Lord, Son of David, have mercy on me! My daughter is suffering terribly from demon-possession." NRS 23 But he did not answer her at all. And his disciples came and urged him, saying, "Send her away, for she keeps shouting after us." NIV 23 Jesus did not answer a word. So his disciples came to him and urged him, "Send her away, for she keeps crying out after us." NRS 24 He answered, "I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel." NIV 24 He answered, "I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel." NRS 25 But she came and knelt before him, saying, "Lord, help me." NIV 25 The woman came and knelt before him. "Lord, help me!" she said. NRS 26 He answered, "It is not fair to take the children's food and throw it to the dogs." NIV 26 He replied, "It is not right to take the children's bread and toss it to their dogs." NRS 27 She said, "Yes, Lord, yet even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters' table." NIV 27 "Yes, Lord," she said, "but even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters' table." NRS 28 Then Jesus answered her, "Woman, great is your faith! Let it be done for you as you wish." And her daughter was healed instantly. NIV 28 Then Jesus answered, "Woman, you have great faith! Your request is granted." And her daughter was healed from that very hour.
