Matthew 19:16-22

NRS 16 Then someone came to him and said, "Teacher, what good deed must I do to have eternal life?" NIV 16 Now a man came up to Jesus and asked, "Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?" NRS 17 And he said to him, "Why do you ask me about what is good? There is only one who is good. If you wish to enter into life, keep the commandments." NIV 17 "Why do you ask me about what is good?" Jesus replied. "There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, obey the commandments." NRS 18 He said to him, "Which ones?" And Jesus said, "You shall not murder; You shall not commit adultery; You shall not steal; You shall not bear false witness; NIV 18 "Which ones?" the man inquired. Jesus replied, " 'Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not give false testimony, NRS 19 Honor your father and mother; also, You shall love your neighbor as yourself." NIV 19 honor your father and mother,' and 'love your neighbor as yourself.' " NRS 20 The young man said to him, "I have kept all these; what do I still lack?" NIV 20 "All these I have kept," the young man said. "What do I still lack?" NRS 21 Jesus said to him, "If you wish to be perfect, go, sell your possessions, and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me." NIV 21 Jesus answered, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me." NRS 22 When the young man heard this word, he went away grieving, for he had many possessions. NIV 22 When the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he had great wealth.
