Matthew 25

NKJV 1 "Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. NIV 1 "At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. NKJV 2 Now five of them were wise, and five were foolish. NIV 2 Five of them were foolish and five were wise. NKJV 3 Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them, NIV 3 The foolish ones took their lamps but did not take any oil with them. NKJV 4 but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. NIV 4 The wise, however, took oil in jars along with their lamps. NKJV 5 But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept. NIV 5 The bridegroom was a long time in coming, and they all became drowsy and fell asleep. NKJV 6 And at midnight a cry was heard: 'Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him!' NIV 6 "At midnight the cry rang out: 'Here's the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!' NKJV 7 Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. NIV 7 "Then all the virgins woke up and trimmed their lamps. NKJV 8 And the foolish said to the wise, 'Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.' NIV 8 The foolish ones said to the wise, 'Give us some of your oil; our lamps are going out.' NKJV 9 But the wise answered, saying, 'No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.' NIV 9 " 'No,' they replied, 'there may not be enough for both us and you. Instead, go to those who sell oil and buy some for yourselves.' NKJV 10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut. NIV 10 "But while they were on their way to buy the oil, the bridegroom arrived. The virgins who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet. And the door was shut. NKJV 11 Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, 'Lord, Lord, open to us!' NIV 11 "Later the others also came. 'Sir! Sir!' they said. 'Open the door for us!' NKJV 12 But he answered and said, 'Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you.' NIV 12 "But he replied, 'I tell you the truth, I don't know you.' NKJV 13 Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming. NIV 13 "Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour. NKJV 14 "For the kingdom of heaven is like a man traveling to a far country, who called his own servants and delivered his goods to them. NIV 14 "Again, it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted his property to them. NKJV 15 And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to each according to his own ability; and immediately he went on a journey. NIV 15 To one he gave five talents of money, to another two talents, and to another one talent, each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey. NKJV 16 Then he who had received the five talents went and traded with them, and made another five talents. NIV 16 The man who had received the five talents went at once and put his money to work and gained five more. NKJV 17 And likewise he who had received two gained two more also. NIV 17 So also, the one with the two talents gained two more. NKJV 18 But he who had received one went and dug in the ground, and hid his lord's money. NIV 18 But the man who had received the one talent went off, dug a hole in the ground and hid his master's money. NKJV 19 After a long time the lord of those servants came and settled accounts with them. NIV 19 "After a long time the master of those servants returned and settled accounts with them. NKJV 20 So he who had received five talents came and brought five other talents, saying, 'Lord, you delivered to me five talents; look, I have gained five more talents besides them.' NIV 20 The man who had received the five talents brought the other five. 'Master,' he said, 'you entrusted me with five talents. See, I have gained five more.' NKJV 21 His lord said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.' NIV 21 "His master replied, 'Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness!' NKJV 22 He also who had received two talents came and said, 'Lord, you delivered to me two talents; look, I have gained two more talents besides them.' NIV 22 "The man with the two talents also came. 'Master,' he said, 'you entrusted me with two talents; see, I have gained two more.' NKJV 23 His lord said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.' NIV 23 "His master replied, 'Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness!' NKJV 24 Then he who had received the one talent came and said, 'Lord, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you have not sown, and gathering where you have not scattered seed. NIV 24 "Then the man who had received the one talent came. 'Master,' he said, 'I knew that you are a hard man, harvesting where you have not sown and gathering where you have not scattered seed. NKJV 25 And I was afraid, and went and hid your talent in the ground. Look, there you have what is yours.' NIV 25 So I was afraid and went out and hid your talent in the ground. See, here is what belongs to you.' NKJV 26 But his lord answered and said to him, 'You wicked and lazy servant, you knew that I reap where I have not sown, and gather where I have not scattered seed. NIV 26 "His master replied, 'You wicked, lazy servant! So you knew that I harvest where I have not sown and gather where I have not scattered seed? NKJV 27 So you ought to have deposited my money with the bankers, and at my coming I would have received back my own with interest. NIV 27 Well then, you should have put my money on deposit with the bankers, so that when I returned I would have received it back with interest. NKJV 28 Therefore take the talent from him, and give it to him who has ten talents. NIV 28 " 'Take the talent from him and give it to the one who has the ten talents. NKJV 29 For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away. NIV 29 For everyone who has will be given more, and he will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken from him. NKJV 30 And cast the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.' NIV 30 And throw that worthless servant outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.' NKJV 31 "When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. NIV 31 "When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his throne in heavenly glory. NKJV 32 All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. NIV 32 All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. NKJV 33 And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. NIV 33 He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left. NKJV 34 Then the King will say to those on His right hand, 'Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: NIV 34 "Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. NKJV 35 for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; NIV 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, NKJV 36 I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.' NIV 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.' NKJV 37 Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? NIV 37 "Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? NKJV 38 When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? NIV 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? NKJV 39 Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?' NIV 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?' NKJV 40 And the King will answer and say to them, 'Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.' NIV 40 "The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.' NKJV 41 Then He will also say to those on the left hand, 'Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels: NIV 41 "Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. NKJV 42 for I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink; NIV 42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, NKJV 43 I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.' NIV 43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.' NKJV 44 Then they also will answer Him, saying, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?' NIV 44 "They also will answer, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?' NKJV 45 Then He will answer them, saying, 'Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.' NIV 45 "He will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.' NKJV 46 And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life." NIV 46 "Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life."
