Matthew 6

NKJV 1 "Take heed that you do not do your charitable deeds before men, to be seen by them. Otherwise you have no reward from your Father in heaven. NIV 1 "Be careful not to do your 'acts of righteousness' before men, to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven. NKJV 2 Therefore, when you do a charitable deed, do not sound a trumpet before you as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory from men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. NIV 2 "So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. NKJV 3 But when you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, NIV 3 But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, NKJV 4 that your charitable deed may be in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will Himself reward you openly. NIV 4 so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. NKJV 5 "And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. NIV 5 "And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. NKJV 6 But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly. NIV 6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. NKJV 7 And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words. NIV 7 And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. NKJV 8 Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him. NIV 8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him. NKJV 9 In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. NIV 9 "This, then, is how you should pray: " 'Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, NKJV 10 Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven. NIV 10 your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. NKJV 11 Give us this day our daily bread. NIV 11 Give us today our daily bread. NKJV 12 And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors. NIV 12 Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. NKJV 13 And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. NIV 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. ' NKJV 14 "For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. NIV 14 For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. NKJV 15 But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. NIV 15 But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins. NKJV 16 "Moreover, when you fast, do not be like the hypocrites, with a sad countenance. For they disfigure their faces that they may appear to men to be fasting. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. NIV 16 "When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show men they are fasting. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. NKJV 17 But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, NIV 17 But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, NKJV 18 so that you do not appear to men to be fasting, but to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly. NIV 18 so that it will not be obvious to men that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. NKJV 19 "Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; NIV 19 "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. NKJV 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. NIV 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. NKJV 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. NIV 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. NKJV 22 "The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light. NIV 22 "The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light. NKJV 23 But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness! NIV 23 But if your eyes are bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness! NKJV 24 "No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon. NIV 24 "No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money. NKJV 25 "Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? NIV 25 "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? NKJV 26 Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? NIV 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? NKJV 27 Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? NIV 27 Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life ? NKJV 28 So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; NIV 28 "And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. NKJV 29 and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. NIV 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. NKJV 30 Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? NIV 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? NKJV 31 Therefore do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' NIV 31 So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' NKJV 32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. NIV 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. NKJV 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. NIV 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. NKJV 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. NIV 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
