Matthew 6:5-15

NLT 5 "And now about prayer. When you pray, don't be like the hypocrites who love to pray publicly on street corners and in the synagogues where everyone can see them. I assure you, that is all the reward they will ever get. NIV 5 "And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. NLT 6 But when you pray, go away by yourself, shut the door behind you, and pray to your Father secretly. Then your Father, who knows all secrets, will reward you." NIV 6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. NLT 7 "When you pray, don't babble on and on as people of other religions do. They think their prayers are answered only by repeating their words again and again. NIV 7 And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. NLT 8 Don't be like them, because your Father knows exactly what you need even before you ask him! NIV 8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him. NLT 9 Pray like this: Our Father in heaven, may your name be honored. NIV 9 "This, then, is how you should pray: " 'Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, NLT 10 May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done here on earth, just as it is in heaven. NIV 10 your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. NLT 11 Give us our food for today, NIV 11 Give us today our daily bread. NLT 12 and forgive us our sins, just as we have forgiven those who have sinned against us. NIV 12 Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. NLT 13 And don't let us yield to temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. " NIV 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. ' NLT 14 "If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. NIV 14 For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. NLT 15 But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins." NIV 15 But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.
