Matthew 7

WBT 1 Judge not, that ye be not judged. NIV 1 "Do not judge, or you too will be judged. WBT 2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and the measure which ye give, shall be measured to you again. NIV 2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. WBT 3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thy own eye? NIV 3 "Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? WBT 4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thy eye; and behold, a beam [is] in thy own eye? NIV 4 How can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? WBT 5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thy own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye. NIV 5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye. WBT 6 Give not that which [is] holy to dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you. NIV 6 "Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and then turn and tear you to pieces. WBT 7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and the door shall be opened to you: NIV 7 "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. WBT 8 For every one that asketh, receiveth; and he that seeketh, findeth; and to him that knocketh, the door shall be opened. NIV 8 For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened. WBT 9 Or what man is there of you, who, if his son shall ask bread, will give him a stone? NIV 9 "Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? WBT 10 Or if he shall ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? NIV 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? WBT 11 If ye then being evil know [how] to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your Father who is in heaven give good things to them that ask him? NIV 11 If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! WBT 12 Therefore all things whatever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets. NIV 12 So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets. WBT 13 Enter ye in at the strait gate; for wide [is] the gate, and broad [is] the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there are who go in by it. NIV 13 "Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. WBT 14 Because strait [is] the gate, and narrow [is] the way, which leadeth to life, and few there are that find it. NIV 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it. WBT 15 Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. NIV 15 "Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. WBT 16 Ye shall know them by their fruits: Do men gather grapes from thorns, or figs from thistles: NIV 16 By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? WBT 17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. NIV 17 Likewise every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. WBT 18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither [can] a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. NIV 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. WBT 19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. NIV 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. WBT 20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them, NIV 20 Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them. WBT 21 Not every one that saith to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father who is in heaven. NIV 21 "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. WBT 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out demons? and in thy name done many wonderful works? NIV 22 Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?' WBT 23 And then will I profess to them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. NIV 23 Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!' WBT 24 Therefore whoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him to a wise man, who built his house upon a rock: NIV 24 "Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. WBT 25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. NIV 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. WBT 26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened to a foolish man, who built his house upon the sand: NIV 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. WBT 27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell, and great was the fall of it. NIV 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash." WBT 28 And it came to pass when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine. NIV 28 When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed at his teaching, WBT 29 For he taught them as [one] having authority, and not as the scribes. NIV 29 because he taught as one who had authority, and not as their teachers of the law.
