ESV 1 The LORD spoke to Moses, saying, NIV 1 The LORD said to Moses, ESV 2 "Speak to the people of Israel and say to them, When you come into the land you are to inhabit, which I am giving you, NIV 2 "Speak to the Israelites and say to them: 'After you enter the land I am giving you as a home ESV 3 and you offer to the LORD from the herd or from the flock a food offering or a burnt offering or a sacrifice, to fulfill a vow or as a freewill offering or at your appointed feasts, to make a pleasing aroma to the LORD, NIV 3 and you present to the LORD offerings made by fire, from the herd or the flock, as an aroma pleasing to the LORD --whether burnt offerings or sacrifices, for special vows or freewill offerings or festival offerings-- ESV 4 then he who brings his offering shall offer to the LORD a grain offering of a tenth of an ephah of fine flour, mixed with a quarter of a hin of oil; NIV 4 then the one who brings his offering shall present to the LORD a grain offering of a tenth of an ephah of fine flour mixed with a quarter of a hin of oil. ESV 5 and you shall offer with the burnt offering, or for the sacrifice, a quarter of a hin of wine for the drink offering for each lamb. NIV 5 With each lamb for the burnt offering or the sacrifice, prepare a quarter of a hin of wine as a drink offering. ESV 6 Or for a ram, you shall offer for a grain offering two tenths of an ephah of fine flour mixed with a third of a hin of oil. NIV 6 " 'With a ram prepare a grain offering of two-tenths of an ephah of fine flour mixed with a third of a hin of oil, ESV 7 And for the drink offering you shall offer a third of a hin of wine, a pleasing aroma to the LORD. NIV 7 and a third of a hin of wine as a drink offering. Offer it as an aroma pleasing to the LORD. ESV 8 And when you offer a bull as a burnt offering or sacrifice, to fulfill a vow or for peace offerings to the LORD, NIV 8 " 'When you prepare a young bull as a burnt offering or sacrifice, for a special vow or a fellowship offering to the LORD, ESV 9 then one shall offer with the bull a grain offering of three tenths of an ephah of fine flour, mixed with half a hin of oil. NIV 9 bring with the bull a grain offering of three-tenths of an ephah of fine flour mixed with half a hin of oil. ESV 10 And you shall offer for the drink offering half a hin of wine, as a food offering, a pleasing aroma to the LORD. NIV 10 Also bring half a hin of wine as a drink offering. It will be an offering made by fire, an aroma pleasing to the LORD. ESV 11 "Thus it shall be done for each bull or ram, or for each lamb or young goat. NIV 11 Each bull or ram, each lamb or young goat, is to be prepared in this manner. ESV 12 As many as you offer, so shall you do with each one, as many as there are. NIV 12 Do this for each one, for as many as you prepare. ESV 13 Every native Israelite shall do these things in this way, in offering a food offering, with a pleasing aroma to the LORD. NIV 13 " 'Everyone who is native-born must do these things in this way when he brings an offering made by fire as an aroma pleasing to the LORD. ESV 14 And if a stranger is sojourning with you, or anyone is living permanently among you, and he wishes to offer a food offering, with a pleasing aroma to the LORD, he shall do as you do. NIV 14 For the generations to come, whenever an alien or anyone else living among you presents an offering made by fire as an aroma pleasing to the LORD, he must do exactly as you do. ESV 15 For the assembly, there shall be one statute for you and for the stranger who sojourns with you, a statute forever throughout your generations. You and the sojourner shall be alike before the LORD. NIV 15 The community is to have the same rules for you and for the alien living among you; this is a lasting ordinance for the generations to come. You and the alien shall be the same before the LORD: ESV 16 One law and one rule shall be for you and for the stranger who sojourns with you." NIV 16 The same laws and regulations will apply both to you and to the alien living among you.' " ESV 17 The LORD spoke to Moses, saying, NIV 17 The LORD said to Moses, ESV 18 "Speak to the people of Israel and say to them, When you come into the land to which I bring you NIV 18 "Speak to the Israelites and say to them: 'When you enter the land to which I am taking you ESV 19 and when you eat of the bread of the land, you shall present a contribution to the LORD. NIV 19 and you eat the food of the land, present a portion as an offering to the LORD. ESV 20 Of the first of your dough you shall present a loaf as a contribution; like a contribution from the threshing floor, so shall you present it. NIV 20 Present a cake from the first of your ground meal and present it as an offering from the threshing floor. ESV 21 Some of the first of your dough you shall give to the LORD as a contribution throughout your generations. NIV 21 Throughout the generations to come you are to give this offering to the LORD from the first of your ground meal. ESV 22 "But if you sin unintentionally, and do not observe all these commandments that the LORD has spoken to Moses, NIV 22 " 'Now if you unintentionally fail to keep any of these commands the LORD gave Moses-- ESV 23 all that the LORD has commanded you by Moses, from the day that the LORD gave commandment, and onward throughout your generations, NIV 23 any of the LORD's commands to you through him, from the day the LORD gave them and continuing through the generations to come-- ESV 24 then if it was done unintentionally without the knowledge of the congregation, all the congregation shall offer one bull from the herd for a burnt offering, a pleasing aroma to the LORD, with its grain offering and its drink offering, according to the rule, and one male goat for a sin offering. NIV 24 and if this is done unintentionally without the community being aware of it, then the whole community is to offer a young bull for a burnt offering as an aroma pleasing to the LORD, along with its prescribed grain offering and drink offering, and a male goat for a sin offering. ESV 25 And the priest shall make atonement for all the congregation of the people of Israel, and they shall be forgiven, because it was a mistake, and they have brought their offering, a food offering to the LORD, and their sin offering before the LORD for their mistake. NIV 25 The priest is to make atonement for the whole Israelite community, and they will be forgiven, for it was not intentional and they have brought to the LORD for their wrong an offering made by fire and a sin offering. ESV 26 And all the congregation of the people of Israel shall be forgiven, and the stranger who sojourns among them, because the whole population was involved in the mistake. NIV 26 The whole Israelite community and the aliens living among them will be forgiven, because all the people were involved in the unintentional wrong. ESV 27 "If one person sins unintentionally, he shall offer a female goat a year old for a sin offering. NIV 27 " 'But if just one person sins unintentionally, he must bring a year-old female goat for a sin offering. ESV 28 And the priest shall make atonement before the LORD for the person who makes a mistake, when he sins unintentionally, to make atonement for him, and he shall be forgiven. NIV 28 The priest is to make atonement before the LORD for the one who erred by sinning unintentionally, and when atonement has been made for him, he will be forgiven. ESV 29 You shall have one law for him who does anything unintentionally, for him who is native among the people of Israel and for the stranger who sojourns among them. NIV 29 One and the same law applies to everyone who sins unintentionally, whether he is a native-born Israelite or an alien. ESV 30 But the person who does anything with a high hand, whether he is native or a sojourner, reviles the LORD, and that person shall be cut off from among his people. NIV 30 " 'But anyone who sins defiantly, whether native-born or alien, blasphemes the LORD, and that person must be cut off from his people. ESV 31 Because he has despised the word of the LORD and has broken his commandment, that person shall be utterly cut off; his iniquity shall be on him." NIV 31 Because he has despised the LORD's word and broken his commands, that person must surely be cut off; his guilt remains on him.' " ESV 32 While the people of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man gathering sticks on the Sabbath day. NIV 32 While the Israelites were in the desert, a man was found gathering wood on the Sabbath day. ESV 33 And those who found him gathering sticks brought him to Moses and Aaron and to all the congregation. NIV 33 Those who found him gathering wood brought him to Moses and Aaron and the whole assembly, ESV 34 They put him in custody, because it had not been made clear what should be done to him. NIV 34 and they kept him in custody, because it was not clear what should be done to him. ESV 35 And the LORD said to Moses, "The man shall be put to death; all the congregation shall stone him with stones outside the camp." NIV 35 Then the LORD said to Moses, "The man must die. The whole assembly must stone him outside the camp." ESV 36 And all the congregation brought him outside the camp and stoned him to death with stones, as the LORD commanded Moses. NIV 36 So the assembly took him outside the camp and stoned him to death, as the LORD commanded Moses. ESV 37 The LORD said to Moses, NIV 37 The LORD said to Moses, ESV 38 "Speak to the people of Israel, and tell them to make tassels on the corners of their garments throughout their generations, and to put a cord of blue on the tassel of each corner. NIV 38 "Speak to the Israelites and say to them: 'Throughout the generations to come you are to make tassels on the corners of your garments, with a blue cord on each tassel. ESV 39 And it shall be a tassel for you to look at and remember all the commandments of the LORD, to do them, not to follow after your own heart and your own eyes, which you are inclined to whore after. NIV 39 You will have these tassels to look at and so you will remember all the commands of the LORD, that you may obey them and not prostitute yourselves by going after the lusts of your own hearts and eyes. ESV 40 So you shall remember and do all my commandments, and be holy to your God. NIV 40 Then you will remember to obey all my commands and will be consecrated to your God. ESV 41 I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt to be your God: I am the LORD your God." NIV 41 I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt to be your God. I am the LORD your God.' "
