LEB 1 These [were] the journeys of the {Israelites}, who went out from the land of Egypt according to their divisions, by the hand of Moses and Aaron. NIV 1 Here are the stages in the journey of the Israelites when they came out of Egypt by divisions under the leadership of Moses and Aaron. LEB 2 Moses wrote down their movements according to their journeys on the command of Yahweh, and these [are] their journeys according to their movements. NIV 2 At the LORD's command Moses recorded the stages in their journey. This is their journey by stages: LEB 3 They set out from Rameses on the first month, on the fifteenth day of the first month; on the next day after the Passover the {Israelites} went out {boldly} {in the sight} of all the Egyptians NIV 3 The Israelites set out from Rameses on the fifteenth day of the first month, the day after the Passover. They marched out boldly in full view of all the Egyptians, LEB 4 while the Egyptians [were] burying all the firstborn among them whom Yahweh struck. Yahweh [also] executed punishments among their gods. NIV 4 who were burying all their firstborn, whom the LORD had struck down among them; for the LORD had brought judgment on their gods. LEB 5 Then the {Israelites} set out from Rameses, and they camped in Succoth. NIV 5 The Israelites left Rameses and camped at Succoth. LEB 6 They journeyed from Succoth and camped in Etham, which [is] on the edge of the desert. NIV 6 They left Succoth and camped at Etham, on the edge of the desert. LEB 7 Then they set out from Etham and returned to Pi-Hahiroth, which faces Baal Zephon, and they camped before Migdol. NIV 7 They left Etham, turned back to Pi Hahiroth, to the east of Baal Zephon, and camped near Migdol. LEB 8 They set out from Pi-Hahiroth and went through the midst of the sea into the desert; and they went a journey of three days into the desert of Etham and camped at Marah. NIV 8 They left Pi Hahiroth and passed through the sea into the desert, and when they had traveled for three days in the Desert of Etham, they camped at Marah. LEB 9 They set out from Marah and came to Elim, and in Elim [there were] twelve springs of water and seventy palm trees, and they camped there. LEB 38 Aaron the priest went up to Mount Hor at the {command} of Yahweh, and he died there in the fortieth year after the {Israelites} had gone out from the land of Egypt, in the fifth month on the first [day] of the month. NIV 38 At the LORD's command Aaron the priest went up Mount Hor, where he died on the first day of the fifth month of the fortieth year after the Israelites came out of Egypt. LEB 50 Then Yahweh spoke to Moses on the desert-plateau of Moab by [the] Jordan [across] Jericho, saying, NIV 50 On the plains of Moab by the Jordan across from Jericho the LORD said to Moses, LEB 51 "Speak to the {Israelites} and say to them, 'When you cross the Jordan into the land of Canaan, NIV 51 "Speak to the Israelites and say to them: 'When you cross the Jordan into Canaan, LEB 52 you will drive out the inhabitants of the land from your presence, and you will destroy all their idols and all the images of their molten idols, and you will demolish all their high places; NIV 52 drive out all the inhabitants of the land before you. Destroy all their carved images and their cast idols, and demolish all their high places. LEB 53 you will dispossess the land and live in it because I have given the land to you to possess it. NIV 53 Take possession of the land and settle in it, for I have given you the land to possess. LEB 54 You will distribute the land by lot according to your clans; to the larger group you will give a larger inheritance, and to the smaller group you will give less inheritance. However the lot falls for him, there the lot will be. You will distribute it according to the tribes of your ancestors. NIV 54 Distribute the land by lot, according to your clans. To a larger group give a larger inheritance, and to a smaller group a smaller one. Whatever falls to them by lot will be theirs. Distribute it according to your ancestral tribes. LEB 55 But if you do not drive out the inhabitants of the land from your presence, then it will happen that whomever you let remain of them will be like irritants in your eyes and like thorns in your sides; they will be your enemies in the land in which you live. NIV 55 " 'But if you do not drive out the inhabitants of the land, those you allow to remain will become barbs in your eyes and thorns in your sides. They will give you trouble in the land where you will live. LEB 56 And just as I planned to do [to] them, I will do to you.'" NIV 56 And then I will do to you what I plan to do to them.' "
