Philemon 1

HNV 1 Sha'ul, a prisoner of Messiah Yeshua, and Timothy our brother, to Philemon, our beloved fellow worker, NIV 1 Paul, a prisoner of Christ Jesus, and Timothy our brother, To Philemon our dear friend and fellow worker, HNV 2 to the beloved Apphia, to Archippus, our fellow soldier, and to the assembly in your house: NIV 2 to Apphia our sister, to Archippus our fellow soldier and to the church that meets in your home: HNV 3 Grace to you and shalom from God our Father and the Lord Yeshua the Messiah. NIV 3 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. HNV 4 I thank my God always, making mention of you in my prayers, NIV 4 I always thank my God as I remember you in my prayers, HNV 5 hearing of your love, and of the faith which you have toward the Lord Yeshua, and toward all the holy ones; NIV 5 because I hear about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints. HNV 6 that the fellowship of your faith may become effective, in the knowledge of every good thing which is in us, in Messiah Yeshua. NIV 6 I pray that you may be active in sharing your faith, so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ. HNV 7 For we have much joy and comfort in your love, because the hearts of the holy ones have been refreshed through you, brother. NIV 7 Your love has given me great joy and encouragement, because you, brother, have refreshed the hearts of the saints. HNV 8 Therefore, though I have all boldness in Messiah to command you that which is appropriate, NIV 8 Therefore, although in Christ I could be bold and order you to do what you ought to do, HNV 9 yet for love's sake I rather beg, being such a one as Sha'ul, the aged, and now a prisoner also of Messiah Yeshua. NIV 9 yet I appeal to you on the basis of love. I then, as Paul--an old man and now also a prisoner of Christ Jesus-- HNV 10 I beg you for my child, whom I have fathered in my bonds, Onesimus, NIV 10 I appeal to you for my son Onesimus, who became my son while I was in chains. HNV 11 who once was useless to you, but now is useful to you and to me; NIV 11 Formerly he was useless to you, but now he has become useful both to you and to me. HNV 12 I am sending him back. You therefore receive him, that is, my own heart, NIV 12 I am sending him--who is my very heart--back to you. HNV 13 whom I wanted to keep with me, that in your behalf he might minister to me in the bonds of the Good News. NIV 13 I would have liked to keep him with me so that he could take your place in helping me while I am in chains for the gospel. HNV 14 But I was willing to do nothing without your consent, that your goodness would not be as of necessity, but of free will. NIV 14 But I did not want to do anything without your consent, so that any favor you do will be spontaneous and not forced. HNV 15 For perhaps he was therefore separated from you for a while, that you would have him forever, NIV 15 Perhaps the reason he was separated from you for a little while was that you might have him back for good-- HNV 16 no longer as a slave, but more than a slave, a beloved brother, specially to me, but how much rather to you, both in the flesh and in the Lord. NIV 16 no longer as a slave, but better than a slave, as a dear brother. He is very dear to me but even dearer to you, both as a man and as a brother in the Lord. HNV 17 If then you count me a partner, receive him as you would receive me. NIV 17 So if you consider me a partner, welcome him as you would welcome me. HNV 18 But if he has wronged you at all, or owes you anything, put that to my account. NIV 18 If he has done you any wrong or owes you anything, charge it to me. HNV 19 I, Sha'ul, write this with my own hand: I will repay it (not to mention to you that you owe to me even your own self besides). NIV 19 I, Paul, am writing this with my own hand. I will pay it back--not to mention that you owe me your very self. HNV 20 Yes, brother, let me have joy from you in the Lord. Refresh my heart in the Lord. NIV 20 I do wish, brother, that I may have some benefit from you in the Lord; refresh my heart in Christ. HNV 21 Having confidence in your obedience, I write to you, knowing that you will do even beyond what I say. NIV 21 Confident of your obedience, I write to you, knowing that you will do even more than I ask. HNV 22 Also, prepare a guest room for me, for I hope that through your prayers I will be restored to you. NIV 22 And one thing more: Prepare a guest room for me, because I hope to be restored to you in answer to your prayers. HNV 23 Epaphras, my fellow prisoner in Messiah Yeshua, greets you, NIV 23 Epaphras, my fellow prisoner in Christ Jesus, sends you greetings. HNV 24 as do Mark, Aristarchus, Demas, and Luke, my fellow workers. NIV 24 And so do Mark, Aristarchus, Demas and Luke, my fellow workers. HNV 25 The grace of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah be with your spirit. Amein. NIV 25 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit.
