Proverbs 11

NKJV 1 Dishonest scales are an abomination to the Lord, But a just weight is His delight. NIV 1 The LORD abhors dishonest scales, but accurate weights are his delight. NKJV 2 When pride comes, then comes shame; But with the humble is wisdom. NIV 2 When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom. NKJV 3 The integrity of the upright will guide them, But the perversity of the unfaithful will destroy them. NIV 3 The integrity of the upright guides them, but the unfaithful are destroyed by their duplicity. NKJV 4 Riches do not profit in the day of wrath, But righteousness delivers from death. NIV 4 Wealth is worthless in the day of wrath, but righteousness delivers from death. NKJV 5 The righteousness of the blameless will direct his way aright, But the wicked will fall by his own wickedness. NIV 5 The righteousness of the blameless makes a straight way for them, but the wicked are brought down by their own wickedness. NIV 8 The righteous man is rescued from trouble, and it comes on the wicked instead. NKJV 9 The hypocrite with his mouth destroys his neighbor, But through knowledge the righteous will be delivered. NIV 9 With his mouth the godless destroys his neighbor, but through knowledge the righteous escape. NKJV 10 When it goes well with the righteous, the city rejoices; And when the wicked perish, there is jubilation. NIV 10 When the righteous prosper, the city rejoices; when the wicked perish, there are shouts of joy. NKJV 11 By the blessing of the upright the city is exalted, But it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked. NIV 13 A gossip betrays a confidence, but a trustworthy man keeps a secret. NKJV 14 Where there is no counsel, the people fall; But in the multitude of counselors there is safety. NIV 14 For lack of guidance a nation falls, but many advisers make victory sure. NKJV 15 He who is surety for a stranger will suffer, But one who hates being surety is secure. NIV 15 He who puts up security for another will surely suffer, but whoever refuses to strike hands in pledge is safe. NKJV 16 A gracious woman retains honor, But ruthless men retain riches. NIV 16 A kindhearted woman gains respect, but ruthless men gain only wealth. NKJV 17 The merciful man does good for his own soul, But he who is cruel troubles his own flesh. NIV 17 A kind man benefits himself, but a cruel man brings trouble on himself. NKJV 18 The wicked man does deceptive work, But he who sows righteousness will have a sure reward. NIV 18 The wicked man earns deceptive wages, but he who sows righteousness reaps a sure reward. NKJV 19 As righteousness leads to life, So he who pursues evil pursues it to his own death. NIV 19 The truly righteous man attains life, but he who pursues evil goes to his death. NKJV 20 Those who are of a perverse heart are an abomination to the Lord, But the blameless in their ways are His delight. NIV 20 The LORD detests men of perverse heart but he delights in those whose ways are blameless. NKJV 21 Though they join forces, the wicked will not go unpunished; But the posterity of the righteous will be delivered. NIV 21 Be sure of this: The wicked will not go unpunished, but those who are righteous will go free. NKJV 22 As a ring of gold in a swine's snout, So is a lovely woman who lacks discretion. NIV 22 Like a gold ring in a pig's snout is a beautiful woman who shows no discretion. NKJV 23 The desire of the righteous is only good, But the expectation of the wicked is wrath. NIV 23 The desire of the righteous ends only in good, but the hope of the wicked only in wrath. NKJV 24 There is one who scatters, yet increases more; And there is one who withholds more than is right, But it leads to poverty. NIV 24 One man gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty. NKJV 25 The generous soul will be made rich, And he who waters will also be watered himself. NIV 25 A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed. NKJV 26 The people will curse him who withholds grain, But blessing will be on the head of him who sells it. NIV 26 People curse the man who hoards grain, but blessing crowns him who is willing to sell. NKJV 27 He who earnestly seeks good finds favor, But trouble will come to him who seeks evil. NIV 27 He who seeks good finds goodwill, but evil comes to him who searches for it. NKJV 28 He who trusts in his riches will fall, But the righteous will flourish like foliage. NIV 28 Whoever trusts in his riches will fall, but the righteous will thrive like a green leaf. NKJV 29 He who troubles his own house will inherit the wind, And the fool will be servant to the wise of heart. NIV 29 He who brings trouble on his family will inherit only wind, and the fool will be servant to the wise. NKJV 30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, And he who wins souls is wise. NIV 30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and he who wins souls is wise. NKJV 31 If the righteous will be recompensed on the earth, How much more the ungodly and the sinner. NIV 31 If the righteous receive their due on earth, how much more the ungodly and the sinner!
