Proverbs 12

RHE 1 He that loveth correction, loveth knowledge: but he that hateth reproof, is foolish. NIV 1 Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but he who hates correction is stupid. RHE 2 He that is good, shall draw grace from the Lord: but he that trusteth in his own devices, doth wickedly. NIV 2 A good man obtains favor from the LORD, but the LORD condemns a crafty man. RHE 3 Man shall not be strengthened by wickedness: and the root of the just shall not be moved. NIV 3 A man cannot be established through wickedness, but the righteous cannot be uprooted. RHE 4 A diligent woman is a crown to her husband: and she that doth things worthy of confusion, is as rottenness in his bones. NIV 4 A wife of noble character is her husband's crown, but a disgraceful wife is like decay in his bones. RHE 5 The thoughts of the just are judgments: and the counsels of the wicked are deceitful. NIV 5 The plans of the righteous are just, but the advice of the wicked is deceitful. RHE 6 The words of the wicked lie in wait for blood: the mouth of the just shall deliver them. NIV 6 The words of the wicked lie in wait for blood, but the speech of the upright rescues them. RHE 7 Turn the wicked, and they shall not be: but the house of the just shall stand firm. NIV 7 Wicked men are overthrown and are no more, but the house of the righteous stands firm. RHE 8 A man shall be known by his learning: but he that is vain and foolish, shall be exposed to contempt. NIV 8 A man is praised according to his wisdom, but men with warped minds are despised. RHE 9 Better is the poor man that provideth for himself, than he that is glorious and wanteth bread. NIV 9 Better to be a nobody and yet have a servant than pretend to be somebody and have no food. RHE 10 The just regardeth the lives of his beasts: but the bowels of the wicked are cruel. NIV 10 A righteous man cares for the needs of his animal, but the kindest acts of the wicked are cruel. RHE 11 He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with bread: but he that pursueth idleness is very foolish. NIV 11 He who works his land will have abundant food, but he who chases fantasies lacks judgment. RHE 12 He that is delighted in passing his time over wine, leaveth a reproach in his strong holds. The desire of the wicked is the fortification of evil men: but the root of the just shall prosper. NIV 12 The wicked desire the plunder of evil men, but the root of the righteous flourishes. RHE 13 For the sins of the lips ruin draweth nigh to the evil man: but the just shall escape out of distress. NIV 13 An evil man is trapped by his sinful talk, but a righteous man escapes trouble. RHE 14 By the fruit of his own mouth shall a man be filled with good things, and according to the works of his hands it shall be repaid him. NIV 14 From the fruit of his lips a man is filled with good things as surely as the work of his hands rewards him. RHE 15 The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that is wise hearkeneth unto counsels. NIV 15 The way of a fool seems right to him, but a wise man listens to advice. RHE 16 A fool immediately sheweth his anger: but he that dissembleth injuries is wise. NIV 16 A fool shows his annoyance at once, but a prudent man overlooks an insult. RHE 17 He that speaketh that which he knoweth, sheweth forth justice: but he that lieth, is a deceitful witness. NIV 17 A truthful witness gives honest testimony, but a false witness tells lies. RHE 18 There is that promiseth, and is pricked as it were with a sword of conscience: but the tongue of the wise is health. NIV 18 Reckless words pierce like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing. RHE 19 The lip of truth shall be steadfast for ever: but he that is a hasty witness, frameth a lying tongue. NIV 19 Truthful lips endure forever, but a lying tongue lasts only a moment. RHE 20 Deceit is in the heart of them that think evil things: but joy followeth them that take counsels of peace. NIV 20 There is deceit in the hearts of those who plot evil, but joy for those who promote peace. RHE 21 Whatsoever shall befall the just man, shall not make him sad: but the wicked shall be filled with mischief. NIV 21 No harm befalls the righteous, but the wicked have their fill of trouble. RHE 22 Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord: but they that deal faithfully, please him. NIV 22 The LORD detests lying lips, but he delights in men who are truthful. RHE 23 A cautious man concealeth knowledge: and the heart of fools publisheth folly. NIV 23 A prudent man keeps his knowledge to himself, but the heart of fools blurts out folly. RHE 24 The hand of the valiant shall bear rule: but that which is slothful shall be under tribute. NIV 24 Diligent hands will rule, but laziness ends in slave labor. RHE 25 Grief in the heart of a man shall bring him low, but with a good word he shall be made glad. NIV 25 An anxious heart weighs a man down, but a kind word cheers him up. RHE 26 He that neglecteth a loss for the sake of a friend, is just: but the way of the wicked shall deceive them. NIV 26 A righteous man is cautious in friendship, but the way of the wicked leads them astray. RHE 27 The deceitful man shall not find gain: but the substance of a just man shall be precious gold. NIV 27 The lazy man does not roast his game, but the diligent man prizes his possessions. RHE 28 In the path of justice is life: but the bye-way leadeth to death. NIV 28 In the way of righteousness there is life; along that path is immortality.
