Proverbs 12

TMB 1 Whoso loveth instruction loveth knowledge, but he that hateth reproof is brutish. NIV 1 Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but he who hates correction is stupid. TMB 2 A good man obtaineth favor of the LORD, but a man of wicked devices will He condemn. NIV 2 A good man obtains favor from the LORD, but the LORD condemns a crafty man. TMB 3 A man shall not be established by wickedness, but the root of the righteous shall not be moved. NIV 3 A man cannot be established through wickedness, but the righteous cannot be uprooted. TMB 4 A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband, but she that causeth shame is rottenness in his bones. NIV 4 A wife of noble character is her husband's crown, but a disgraceful wife is like decay in his bones. TMB 5 The thoughts of the righteous are right, but the counsels of the wicked are deceit. NIV 5 The plans of the righteous are just, but the advice of the wicked is deceitful. TMB 6 The counsels of the wicked are to lie in wait for blood, but the mouths of the upright shall deliver them. NIV 6 The words of the wicked lie in wait for blood, but the speech of the upright rescues them. TMB 7 The wicked are overthrown and are no more, but the house of the righteous shall stand. NIV 7 Wicked men are overthrown and are no more, but the house of the righteous stands firm. TMB 8 A man shall be commended according to his wisdom, but he that is of a perverse heart shall be despised. NIV 8 A man is praised according to his wisdom, but men with warped minds are despised. TMB 9 He that is lowly and hath a servant is better off than he that honoreth himself and lacketh bread. NIV 9 Better to be a nobody and yet have a servant than pretend to be somebody and have no food. TMB 10 A righteous man hath regard for the life of his beast, but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel. NIV 10 A righteous man cares for the needs of his animal, but the kindest acts of the wicked are cruel. TMB 11 He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with bread, but he that followeth vain persons is void of understanding. NIV 11 He who works his land will have abundant food, but he who chases fantasies lacks judgment. TMB 12 The wicked desireth the net of evil men, but the root of the righteous yieldeth fruit. NIV 12 The wicked desire the plunder of evil men, but the root of the righteous flourishes. TMB 13 The wicked is snared by the transgression of his lips, but the just shall come out of trouble. NIV 13 An evil man is trapped by his sinful talk, but a righteous man escapes trouble. TMB 14 A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth, and the recompense of a man's hands shall be rendered unto him. NIV 14 From the fruit of his lips a man is filled with good things as surely as the work of his hands rewards him. TMB 15 The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise. NIV 15 The way of a fool seems right to him, but a wise man listens to advice. TMB 16 A fool's wrath is known at once, but a prudent man covereth shame. NIV 16 A fool shows his annoyance at once, but a prudent man overlooks an insult. TMB 17 He that speaketh truth showeth forth righteousness, but a false witness, deceit. NIV 17 A truthful witness gives honest testimony, but a false witness tells lies. TMB 18 There is he that speaketh like the piercings of a sword, but the tongue of the wise is healing. NIV 18 Reckless words pierce like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing. TMB 19 The lips of truth shall be established for ever, but a lying tongue is but for a moment. NIV 19 Truthful lips endure forever, but a lying tongue lasts only a moment. TMB 20 Deceit is in the heart of them that imagine evil, but to the counselors of peace there is joy. NIV 20 There is deceit in the hearts of those who plot evil, but joy for those who promote peace. TMB 21 There shall no evil happen to the just, but the wicked shall be filled with troubles. NIV 21 No harm befalls the righteous, but the wicked have their fill of trouble. TMB 22 Lying lips are an abomination to the LORD, but they that deal truly are His delight. NIV 22 The LORD detests lying lips, but he delights in men who are truthful. TMB 23 A prudent man concealeth knowledge, but the heart of fools proclaimeth foolishness. NIV 23 A prudent man keeps his knowledge to himself, but the heart of fools blurts out folly. TMB 24 The hand of the diligent shall exercise rule, but the slothful shall be under tribute. NIV 24 Diligent hands will rule, but laziness ends in slave labor. TMB 25 Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop, but a good word maketh it glad. NIV 25 An anxious heart weighs a man down, but a kind word cheers him up. TMB 26 The righteous is more excellent than his neighbor, but the way of the wicked seduceth them. NIV 26 A righteous man is cautious in friendship, but the way of the wicked leads them astray. TMB 27 The slothful man roasteth not that which he took in hunting, but the substance of a diligent man is precious. NIV 27 The lazy man does not roast his game, but the diligent man prizes his possessions. TMB 28 In the way of righteousness is life, and in the pathway thereof there is no death. NIV 28 In the way of righteousness there is life; along that path is immortality.
